Was planning to buy a new DSLR and accessories online but decided to give a local camera shop a try first. I had a done a lot of research already and was pretty educated going in on what I was looking for.
The store was a great experience. There were real experienced photography experts behind the counter who were great at answering questions and making great recommendations. The selection was great as well. I was able to try a few lenses out in the store on the camera I was planning to buy which helped in making my lens choices. Impossible to get this kind of interactive expertise online, and also impossible to try different lenses on your camera online. Online sites brag about free 2 day shipping. How about free 5 minute delivery! The store had everything I was looking for in stock and I walked out with exactly what I wanted and a happy customer.
If this store is in your driving range, I highly recommend it. Great prices, great service, great Inventory, and great service behind...
Read moreI’m very disappointed to leave a bad review for a local camera shop. I came in to a confrontational employee. I asked about the working condition of a Nikon camera and he was very pompous about his response “It doesn’t work and it doesn’t matter if it does, it’s not for sale anyways” after which, I was lambasted about taking a picture of a print to show a friend I was talking to online, being told it’s copyright infringement and plagiarism. He mentioned that his colleague was the man who took said photographs, so I waited until he was done with another client before I showed him my conversation with my friend and explained that his coworker just blew up on me. That kind of behavior is why people think photographers are pretentious and more so that’s a good way to chase customers. I came all the way from the Philadelphia area because my shops were closed, to support this smaller business. Please don’t look at your customers as criminals. It shows your ignorance...
Read moreI recently was shopping for a newly released Fujifilm XT-5 camera and all the big New York City shops were on back-order. A bit of research led me to a local shop, CAMERAS ETC, who had one in stock and reserved it for me. I took a ride to Newark, DE and found the shop not only had the newest camera that was sold out at every major outlet I tried, but has a deep inventory of photography used equipment including many professional items that are out of production and hard to find. It was like a toy store for a person like me who has 50 years of photography in all formats. I left a camera to be sold on consignment and the item sold in the pretty quickly and the check arrived in the mail shortly thereafter exactly as was expected. I might add that I saved $90 on my purchase by patronizing a Delaware dealer where there is no sales tax. It was definitely a good...
