Be careful! Newark's sole Fine Fare is not like any of New York's or Philadelphia's Fine Fares. Everyone is not welcome. The selection of foods and other products are mostly the same, but some of the workers here in Newark are curt and/or unprofessional. For example, one of the workers - a male that works the produce aisle - casually picked his nose on the job while leaning against the produce. Another example, a male bagger insulted me by using anti-gay language including calling me the Spanish language gay slur Ma--cón. I was standing in the check out line, and I clearly didn't hear the male bagger's instructions. I had one bud of my headphones in, but I put together what he said when I realized he was talking to me. I contacted Retail Grocers Group, Inc. Fine Fare's brand owner. Most of the employees seem okay, but they have some workers that clearly don't recognize their role as representatives of Fine Fare and the legal implications of that role.
Update: I decided to use Amazon Fresh to order my grocery items going forward. I hope the service is better than Fine Fare.
Update(2 YEARS LATER!): I now use Amazon Fresh for my grocery needs and I use "Food Fair" (used to be "Fine Fare" - literally still the same store) for convenience items, rarely and only. I get in and I get out. "Food Fair" still has far too many obvious problems in my opinion (read my review and some others for details). Also, the response from the "Food Fair" representative almost 2 years later - prompting this update from me - has no impact or consequence to my opinion of the reality of the day-to-day operations...
Read moreTalk about a horrible supermarket. I would love to see the day that the prices are actually correct. You really need to watch everything you purchase from here either the prices are wrong or the items are beyond expired. Buyers BEWARE! Now let's go into the staff , the girl manager always has an attitude and you need to wait 10 mins for an override. The express which is supposed to be 10 items or LESS is NEVER EXPRESS! They allow for people with more than the limit to cash out there which is not fair for everyone else who has 10 items or less. Now let's get into something more serious - the EBT and WIC FRAUD, they allow for customers to pay for cash items with the WIC checks and just put fruits as the purchase. I witnessed someone buying a small hookah from them and the cashier just tendered it as frozen fruits and some cheese. They also take the WIC checks that the customers don't want- by that I mean the customer signs the check and the cashier took it and said thank you I'll give it to my mom to buy it later. I'm amazed that this...
Read moreThe cab deliveries where much quicker than waiting for the delivery van. Last week or so, I waited 1 hr.for the delivery van in the cold. 🤔🤔🤔🤔 UPDATE: Delivery van is worst now, if you have to wait. Lucky to get a ride if the delivery van happens to be there! UPDATE:. Higher prices. Be careful, water falling on food from damaged ceiling, when it rains. No help from workers when reaching for foods. Foods are always being moved around. Bought a juice that was probably out of the fridge too long by a customers, and placed back too late by the worker. It was spoiled. I didn't have enough time to bring it back for exchange, lost my money on this product. Manager is cool and helpful with everything. Needs to hire people on the floor that not only organize food but assist customers too! Two days ago approx 6:45p.m. all cash registers where CLOSED. Everyone took a break at the same time? Customers looking around for the cashier's. Never seen anything like this before. More and more items without...
