Super long review (I'm sorry in advance), but I feel everyone deserves an honest review and a fair chance to decide if they really want to stay at this property. We stayed at this hotel 2 times. Our first time, December 2018, was great, no issues other than the area not being fantastic; but we never felt unsafe at any point. So, we decided to stay again this December 2019. Let's just say it was a COMPLETELY different experience. The first night, we get there around 11PM or so (driving from FL), and they put us in a room that smells like a wet dog. The smell was unbearable, so we had them switch us to a different room. The new room was fine until we discovered that the door was unable to lock because it had the wrong size door plate. There are no sages in the rooms, so a non-locking door wasnt going to work. So I had to go down stairs again and request another room. This time, the unpleasant front desk attendant who was too busy talking on her cellphone the WHOLE time came up with me, attitude and all, to verify what I was saying was correct. So- we were then given a third room. This room was fine, with the exception that we didn't have enough toilet paper or towels. So I grabbed extra from the front desk, and that was the end of night 1. The next morning, we tidied up the room, had breakfast (which is not great- sausage and eggs EVERY morning), and headed into NYC. We came back to the hotel around 8PM, only to find that housekeeping only came in to take the dirty towels and did NOTHING else; no trash emptied, no beds made, etc. So I went downstairs and complained, and the solution was for us to take a black plastic garbage bag and empty our own trash and leave the big bag in the hallway, and the bag will be picked up in the morning by housekeeping, as housekeeping was already gone for the day. I was NOT happy, but I did it anyway because we didnt want to feel uncomfortable in our room. The next morning we get up, the big black garbage bag is still sitting there in the hallway- nice. So we eat the same breakfast, and head into the city. The manager of the hotel calls me to apologize and refunds some points that I used for the stay. He also decided to tell me that if I "write him a 5-star review, he will give me an extra 2,000 points" on my account. Which I early didnt do, because 2,000 points is not enough for me to ruin another family's vacation. -Other points: The breakfast attendant loved me, but for some reason couldn't stand my husband or my step son. She was not nice to then on 2 separate occasions -We had tried to get Italian delivered to us on the 2nd night, from right over the bridge in Kearny (.9 miles away), and they told us they don't deliver to Newark; the area wasnt safe for them to come to. But again- we never felt unsafe. -One positive of the hotel is the location. Although bot in the best area, it's super close to Newark Penn Station, so it was easy to get in...

After driving HOURS from North Carolina to this hotel we arrived exhausted only to find out first room smelled very strongly of smoke and we have family members who are extremely sensitive to the smell and deal with allergies as well. The front desk staff did move rather quickly to find us another room however, once we arrived to the room and began setting up the pull out bed/couch for our daughter, we found springs missing and the mattress was falling through to the floor. Front desk staff sent someone up to try to see if they could fix the pull out and once he determined we were correct that it in fact was broken, he took photos and told us they would try to find us another room. We were so tired that we even said at this point, we would take the smoke smelling room to have a functional pull out so our daughter could sleep safely. They found us another room in which the hall smelled like marijuana but the actual room smelled fine and the pull out couch worked. Unfortunately, this was way after we first arrived however, we kept a positive attitude the whole time and spoken kindly to the staff regardless of these issues. Everything went well until Sunday morning when we awoke to find our car missing. All the above drama plus our car being towed is now leading to us say something.... We honestly feel like the whole situation was a set up. There was no access to look at the videos to show we hung up the permit from our rearview mirror. Apparently the manager was off on Sundays and we wouldn't be able to get a hold of the manager until Monday. What major establishment in New Jersey on a busy weekend doesn't have a supervisor or manager readily available? We have our own issues with the towing company however, the fact that no one could access the video cameras AND that the manager had a special number to reach the tow company raises some major red flags for us. It is now Monday at 1:30pm and still no word from management. You can see from the attached photos that the permit is paper and very flimsy. We hung it and apparently it fell down during the night. ONE SIMPLE PHONE CALL could have changed all the CHAOS we had to endure Sunday morning to get home to North Carolina for work and our daughter to school the next day. I was book two nights in last week 08/28/2025 and 08/29/2025, first room I got has strong muddy smell, second room I got it the toilet has water running all night and wake me up a few times. until second day morning around 6am, I found bath room water was leaking everywhere, I reach out the front desk, the young boy came and take some pics, told me he has to waiting daytime stuff come do handle this tings which day shift start about 8.30am. I have to used the toilet again, after that the running sounds stop.
I waiting day shift stuff come , I talk to front desk person name Nelly, she said the handyman will come later around 10.30pm. I waiting to 10.30am. the handyman has other things to do , I have to waiting again.
when they finally check the bathroom, quickly clean the water and saying , no leaking. said the water must be coming from shower. because the shower curtain can not fully close. I turn on the shower and close the curtain to show them , there is no water come out!
However, I request cancellation for the second day, because I really dissatisfied to stay anymore.
Nelly told me she has to reach out manager then later told me the hotel will free charge and let me go, I request confirmation for the cancellation, she said there is no document that hotel can do, the way they do is request travel agent call them to verify. I try to call the super.com which I booked the hotel and trying to set up phone meeting with hotel. the Nelly told me again, the agent has to use agent phone # to call them, cannot use my cell phone, tell me go home and will refund money to me.
I reach out super.com to request a travel agent to make phone call. which they did a phone call on 08/30/2025, the hotel denied the claim. I don't understand why, so I spoke with Nelly on 08/01/2025, she said the hotel already refund the money back to travel agent on 08/29/2029, I asking again for the confirmation the refund amount. Nelly refused to tell how much refund and no confirmation provides
I checked with Super.com again, they received nothing, they need confirmation which the hotel refused to give me .
Really disappoint for this business the way they treat customer. They told me free to go home and will not charge me then denied in behind. Can you...
