This is a beautiful park, with beautiful water spots and trails. The camp that takes place here in the summer unfortunately makes it hard to enjoy.
If you send your kids to the camp at Rittenhouse park, you need to teach your boys some manners. I frequent this park with my two year old daughter, and today several of the boys were throwing and skipping rocks at my daughter and I. We were off to a section on the side by ourselves trying to stay away from the larger kids, but I still had to tell them several times to stop throwing rocks at us. They ignored me every single time. a counselor finally got involved but I shouldn't have to be the one to tell them ANYTHING.
This is a PUBLIC PARK, we should be allowed to enjoy it without kids throwing rocks at us. Not only that, but I saw another girl spraying bug spray directly into the water. Like teach your damn kids some manners people this is ridiculous. On top of all this, the kids and counselors leave trash EVERYWHERE. snack wrappers, rubber bands, broken toys, garbage, is littered in even the most private parts of the park.
I hate to say the camp ruins this park but the counselors really need to stay off their phones and pay attention to their kids. 20-30 kids should not be swimming in the fast moving water around rocks with no one watching them. When we left, every single counselor was on their phones. Like I get the counselors are college aged kids but this whole camp...
Read moreVisitors BEWARE!This park with its 49 acres is a definite go see but there seems to be a problem with litter.Rittenhouse park is a designated summer camp for kids of all ages.(which is great) Unfortunately my last couple visits left not much to be excited about.PILES OF TRASH EVERYWHERE...I was mushrooming during the morning until the camp kids started arriving and came back around 330-4pm once the ended. How appalling!!These kids, and counselors have no respect for mother nature nor themselves to allow the amount of trash I witnessed tossed to be discarded in such a manner. SHAME ON THE CITY OF NEWARK AND THESE KIDS PARENTS FOR ALLOW THESE CHILDREN TO THINK WHAT THEY DID WAS ACCEPTABLE. I will pop in there a couple more time and update my review as I see fit ,if said location wasn't aware of the who,how & when. Now ya do PLEASE KEEP MOTHER NATURE PRISTINE ,SHE NEEDS ALL THE...
Read moreThis is a beautiful place to send a day walking in the woods. Serene place, a small stream, bridges across, some play area and good trails. There is parking on site a bit away inside from the main road. The google maps show a wrong road 'Art Lane' which actually is into a sub-division of homes and a cul-de-sac. Go further about 100 meters and you can see the actual entrance. It is a dirt-road and the board on the side says, "Vehicles should not be taken on the property".. Go ahead and go the parking lot to park. This warning is meant for taking the vehicles on the trails - may be ATVs. It is a bit confusing. You can also park on the road side and then walk to the property too. Anyway it is a great place to walk and have time of peace and tranquility....
