This hotel should not be called a Hilton! This was by far the worst experience I’ve had at any Hilton & was bad enough that my family chose to move into another 1 bedroom Hilton with no privacy for my husband & I. I would not stay at this Hilton & expect a quality or comfortable stay.

I rarely post reviews like this, but I want to warn anyone who might consider this hotel thinking it is worth the cost of a Hilton stay. This is not typical Hilton…not even motel 6 quality! My family was prepared to stay here during a transition between homes & we had negotiated what we thought was an affordable rate with the hotel staff. I regret not visiting the location first, but I figured because it was a Hilton it would be a quality experience. Boy was I wrong! I’ve learned that the Hilton brand does not necessarily mean quality.

When we arrived the first room we were placed in was easily over 78 degrees. My wife complained & we were moved to a more comfortable room. Then, as she began putting items away in the kitchen & discovered cabinets with food crumbs, greasy, dirty oil stains on the dishes. There were mice droppings in the cabinets & corners of the room which we pointed out to hotel staff who seemed to have no concerns. The hotel did not have accessible ice or water & we were told to use the ice in the freezer. The freezer in our room did not make ice so we were at the mercy of the front desk staff to get ice whenever we needed it. The pull out sofa bed was broken & unsafe to sleep on. My son was supposed to sleep on this which was something we discussed ahead of our stay with the staff. When I mentioned the broken sofa to the staff nothing was done to try to fix it & they said yep it’s broken🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ My son had to sleep on an air mattress our whole stay. We literally killed bugs crawling across the floor in our room that my son had to sleep on because the sofa bed was broken🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

Prior to our stay we were told the pool was closed due to COVID but may open in July. When we arrived we observed that the pool was completely empty. Additionally, the business center we were told was completely closed due to COVID. I believe this hotel was poorly maintained & cleaned & used COVID as an excuse for their damaged amenities. Amenities that they feature on their website & perpetrated to be in good working order. The hotel breakfast was substandard at best.

The final straw for me was seeing how the staff allowed a damaged American flag to continue flying over their building during the 4th of July holiday. My family is full of veterans and we are combat veterans ourselves. We politely explained our frustrations and even offered to purchase a new flag and explain proper etiquette to the staff. The staff was continuing to fly the damaged flag at night & during bad storms. All the staff needed to do was take down the torn & damaged American flag. Many service members gave their lives in service to our nation protecting that flag, so it should be treated with more respect, and especially over the 4th of July holiday. They refused & the flag was still flying when we left the hotel. I was offended & disgusted with the lack of concern or response especially over the 4th of July holiday. I will never stay in this...

Was here on a business trip. Location was convenient and close to my client that I needed to be. There is where my positive comments end for the review.|| This is an old tired property badly in need of an upgrade. Everything is old and creaky and barely keeping up. The elevator groans and creeks all the way up to the 6th floor. Sometimes I get the impression that it may give up half way.|| The room was somewhat decent. Large and spacious. Has 2 desks, one in the kitchen area and the other in the main area. Plenty of room to spread out and work. Full size refrigerator, stove, sink etc. Well equipped though I did not need it. There is a ceiling fan in addition to the AC which is nice. I always like some breeze when I sleep and this was a welcome feature.|| The Fitness room is a disaster! The pool does not have any water in it, which will definitely cramp my style. 2 out of 2 Treadmills in the Fitness center had a 'Temporarily out of order' sign on it for the 4 days I was at the hotel. Wonder what their definition of 'temporary' is. There is no AC in the Fitness room (see attached picture of dead Thermostat). I complained about this on the first day and was told that they will have the 'Engineer' look into it. 4 days later, there still was no AC in the Fitness room. There was trash all over the floor in the fitness room and it was clear that it does not get any maintenance.|| Breakfast was OK. Decent selection of fresh fruit, yogurt, juices and some hot items each day.|| The front desk was mostly empty practically every time I approached it. Had to yell out to get someones attention. When they do show up to the Front desk they have a look on their face that communicates that I was inconveniencing them!!!|| Overall a hotel that is completely customer unfriendly and barely qualifies as a hotel. If you can run the...

I have been staying in Hilton hotels all summer with my son's travel baseball team and this hotel was the absolute worst. I have to admit that A LOT of the Hilton hotels are dated and in need of some serious updates but this hotel was by far the worst we have seen yet. Our room smelled of cigarette smoke and there were burn marks in the bed skirt and the side chair. The arms of the chair were almost black with dirt and the pull out couch cushions were stained on both sides! The pull out couch was VERY uncomfortable to sleep on and both my mother and my son (they took turns) complained of bad back pain the following morning. I used the ice maker in the fridge and the ice was moldy. There were fixtures on the wall where I guess a picture used to hang but did not anymore, and the couch looked like a cat had scratched it all up! There was serious water damage in the lobby where breakfast was served and after I sat down to eat with my mom I realized the garbage can directly behind her was there to catch water leaking from the ceiling above. We were staying there for a baseball tournament at the University of Delaware and it was HOT. The pool was completely drained and there was absolutely no mention of it on the website or the Hilton app! My son came back drenched in sweat and couldn't even cool off in the pool! I should have known that this hotel was not going to be great when I arrived the first night and there was a dirty diaper on the ground by the front door and the garbage can was overflowing! The staff here are really nice, however. They deserve a MUCH better working environment than what Hilton has provided for them. Very disappointing. I do not recommend staying at this hotel!

This hotel is old and that’s okay, but lack of cleaning rooms is not! The first room had a broken toilet seat, a long black hair on my bathroom door, a fridge that looked like someone fried chicken in the room for the last 5 years. I asked to switch rooms, was put into a new room and the toilet seat was broken, fridge was dirty and floor was so sticky my shoes were sticking. Air vents caked with dust and tv wouldn’t work. The front desk staff can’t be bothered with you at check in and to be honest if I hadn’t brought down the black wash clothes with me after cleaning the floor I don’t think I would have received the response I did. Apparently they do not have a general manager and the assist general manager daffney only works 9:30-3:30. The location is great, and pretty much every hotel in this area has bad reviews, mostly about cleaning and bed bugs. I did check my room thoroughly and did not see any evidence but I aired on the side of caution and kept my suitcase on the table in the kitchen area and completely closed. I will drive an extra 30mins to an hour but I will never book here again. On a positive note Justin the engineer manager over the two properties, responded to fix my tv, fixed my toilet while he was here, and delivered on his promise to ensure my room was cleaned properly today. The lady who was running the Wednesday night social was amazing, so friendly and sweet and took pride in her work. Homewood suites.. coach your folks at the front desk about customer service, give Justin and the lady(sorry I dont know her name) that was running the social , some praise for being the ONLY TWO that had some concept of what customer service means.
