Hoover-Minthorn House Museum — Attraction in Newberg

Visiting the museum house was a pretty fascinating experience. I didn’t know much of the history of how Hoover and his siblings came to Newberg. The fact that the house is still standing after all these decades is remarkable. Learning about the history behind it and its connection to Herbert Hoover added another layer of intrigue to the visit. What an absolute Delight to see a restored home that Herbert Hoover lived in when he was a kid. A lot of original pieces in the house and the ones that weren't original were of the same time period And close to what they would have had. In addition to being beautiful, our guide was extremely knowledgeable not just about the history of the house and the life of Herbert Hoover, but also about his family who adopted him and the town of Newberg Oregon as well. Very pretty and well restored. It really is interesting to see Hoover’s childhood come to life through surviving materials and images (including the bed he slept on as a child and the pear tree that the Minthorn family grew). It truly is a walk through history and the tour guides are very friendly and knowledgeable. I liked it so much that I went back a second time after about a year and a half for a refresher.
