I'm familiar with this place because the owner is featured in a lot of YouTube videos on the Pixel Game Squad YouTube channel. I've been enthusiastic to visit this place ever since I heard about it, this is my honest review.
Retro Games Plus is exactly how I imagined it would be. They have sections for retro t-shirts, VHS, legos, random assortments of action figures, as well as video games ranging from Atari all the way to the newest consoles. They also have a small Japanese import section as well.
I primarily collect NES and SNES games. I found their selection to be quite lacking in this area. They only had one small glass case of NES and SNES games, which I took of and which is included in this review, and separate sections for more common games which were all fairly reasonably priced. I was also greeted enthusiastically as soon as I walked into the place by the young man behind the counter.
I walked into this place truly hoping to buy something, but I left empty-handed. They just didn't have anything that I wanted which is a shame because they're filled from floor to ceiling with loads of merchandise. Most of it was just really common stuff though, so I'm assuming that nobody locally has traded in anything good and those that have visited before me bought up everything that was worth purchasing.
Therefore, I give this place Five Stars based on their setup and the merchandise that they offer, but I did end up leaving disappointed because there was nothing there that I wanted. Such a shame, but this is a great place to visit if you're interested in...
Read moreI don't have no problem with retro plus just a problem with rules not been posted for the public to know.
I understand buisness has to make there money in order to provide for the buisness to grow, but one thing they need to work on is not threating customers to be ban just cause someone is selling an item to another customer ...
It's understandable if they are in the store, but if outside the premises shouldn't be a problem aslong it's not done inside the store.
Someone came in to sell a game, I offered to buy , I was told I can't buy the game because I could get ban out the store, I asked the person can I go outside and buy the item away from the store, they said no, no matter if it's off the premises I still could get ban just cause they already put it in the system..
I mean why ban people from entering the store if the purchased is off premisses .. all because they wanted to triple the price and sell it to another customer.
I was very surprised!! ...
It's a reason why gamestop dont waste there time banning people , they don't loose nothing by allowing the people to buy other customer items away from there buisness.
They understand everyone is on a budget and are willing to help aslong you are not doing it inside the store and off the...
Read more9/1/22 Either due to inexperience or a personal issue I wasn't made privy to, the clerk behind the counter "tested" the rare system I brought in to sell and talked about about how he "would've paid upwards of a couple hundred if it was in working condition". First of all, if you're going to test a game system, even the most inexperienced gamer knows you have to plug the controller into the player 1 port, not the player 2 port in order for the controller to be "in working condition". He didn't even know how to put the system's controller back into the slot that's built into the system for it, although he claimed to be familiar with the unit. Needless to say, it wasn't worth hearing anything else the guy had to say once he deemed a perfectly good system broken. Not to mention, the guy manhandled my system and I'm certain he knows better. So I went down the street and they were more than happy to properly test the system and pay more than what this dude claimed he'd pay for a working unit 🙄 As for the store owner, you may want to be sure your employees are happy with their job, because you lost out on a rare system yesterday.
Update 9/4/22: Apparently it was the owner with which I had this interaction. I...
