This used to be a fantastic little view park. For almost 10 years I would always see many people enjoying our breathtaking sunsets over Newport and out to Catalina. Nice grass slope, folks with picnic blankets, others doing yoga, great vibes here. Unfortunately, this park was destroyed by the City of Newport and the resident below the park in Jasmine Creek (now renamed ironically to "The Views". The City removed 80% of the grass, no more lounging on the slopes. The resident planted hedges that are now over 6ft high. So, today there is no view possible from the park at all. One must walk on the sidewalk above the park to see. No one uses this park any longer, except my dog. Slow clap Newport Beach, you destroyed a neighborhood gem.
Edit 2022, The City or Newport finally helped the resident's association to force the offending residents to trim their hedges and trees to restore the view! Now, many months later, they continue to maintain the view and the park is at least a view park again. It's not as good as it used to be, as there really isn't a place to place a towel and still see the view, so I never see anyone linger in the park any longer.
