I received a gift card to Spa Gregorie’s and scheduled an appointment for a facial. Booking was easy, and the scheduler was very kind. Upon arrival, I was pleasantly surprised by the entryway, which featured a variety of products, and the front desk staff was welcoming.
However, there were a few hiccups with my experience. I initially booked a 60-minute facial but was scheduled for 75 minutes instead. Thankfully, they accommodated my request to adjust the time.
Once I entered the locker room, I found the space underwhelming. The flooring felt more commercial than spa-like, and there was no noticeable relaxing aroma or soft music, which I expected. The locker room itself felt more like an upscale gym bathroom rather than a tranquil spa retreat. While they provided robes, the one I received was visibly worn and tattered, which I also noticed on another guest’s robe. This is an easy fix that should be addressed immediately.
The relaxation area was comfortable, and the sofas were a nice touch. However, the décor was outdated, and the space could benefit from a design refresh.
Despite being the first appointment of the day, my service started late, which unfortunately cut into my treatment time. Inside the facial room, the bed lacked warmth—something I typically expect during a spa treatment. Looking up, I noticed the vents were old and dusty, which was not ideal when lying face-up for an extended period.
The facial itself was fine, but the flow felt disjointed. At one moment, my face was being cleansed, and the next, my hand was being massaged. While the massage was nice, it didn’t feel cohesive within the treatment. I had also requested extractions, but I don’t believe I actually received them, as I didn’t feel any of the usual techniques used for blackhead removal.
One thing the spa does well is its investment in quality skincare products. The serums, lotions, and sunscreen applied at the end smelled wonderful and felt great on my skin.
Another issue worth mentioning is that the photos on the Google Maps page don’t seem to reflect the Newport Beach location. This could create misleading expectations for first-time visitors.
Overall, Spa Gregorie’s has potential, especially given its location in Newport Beach, but it could benefit from some updates and more attention to detail. I would highly recommend management consider bringing in a secret shopper to experience these issues firsthand. Many of the concerns I noted—like worn-out robes, dusty vents, and outdated spaces—are things employees likely see daily, yet they haven’t been addressed.
I have another gift card, but I’m not in a rush to return for a service. Instead, I’ll likely use it toward purchasing products...
Read moreMy wife LOVES this place!!!
It is the gold standard of how to run a spa, and every chance we are visiting Orange County, I try to schedule her a massage, sometimes a facial, (sometimes both), and the results are positive every time.
Massages/Facials can range from 30, 45, 60, to 90 minutes, and typically she will get 60-minutes of each, and afterwards she feels absolutely wonderful; complete relaxation of a spa experience away from the stresses of this world. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND checking out...
...Truth is, I have no idea what is in the back of the spa, but I have seen the entry shop (kind of small for my big body), but smells wonderful, and lotioney, with candles, various organic face products, hand-made soaps, lip balm, jewelry from local artists', clothing, sweatshirts, and of course scented lotions.
Customer services is friendly, informative, and they seem to expedite the ladies through the shop quickly, but not feel rushed; very organized business.
It seems to be the spa that really caters toward pleasing women, so after 10 minutes of listening to calming near making me go to sleep meditating music in the entry shop, and naturally inhaling: Honey Lavender Eucalyptus Mint Cucumber and Lemongrass sented candles, I immediately have to run to Muldoon's Irish Pub next door for a pint of Guinness to get my manhood back and just wait for my wife to return in a few hours.
Recommended calling ahead to schedule an appointment.
They generally have specials for both massages and facials, birthday/lunch, wedding parties, mother/daughter packages. They also have gift cards available. The only setback is the parking (not their fault) - I generally just drop my wife off at the entry and/or park to go to Muldoon's, or get my wife back after a round of golf.
Great Christmas, Mother's Day, Birthday or Anyday present for the wife, girlfriend, mom, grandma. It is the "go to massage place" for...
Read moreBeen here twice, and had a bad experience both times. The first time, another client took my shoes from the locker room and front desk and manager’s solution was “you can wear our spa sandals home and if we find your shoes we will call you”. My shoes, by the way, are $1000 shoes. Not that the price should matter, but it is insane to tell a customer that you aren’t going to go grab their shoes from the customer who probably took them, instead, “they’ll call me IF I they find my shoes”. I was stuck at the spa for an hour after my treatment trying to get them to bring me my shoes. Decided to give this place another try yesterday, frankly because they had same day appointments available and other places did not, which should have been my first red flag, so my mistake. I was greeted by the same receptionist as last time I was there, Cameron is her name I believe, and she is the rudest receptionist I’ve ever dealt with. From the second I walked in the door, her tone with me was rude, short, and snarky. I let it go, yet as I was leaving my treatment, I witnessed her speak to the client in front of me in a perfectly normal tone, laughing with her, and as soon as it was my turn, watched her tone completely change to being rude and snarky again. For a spa that charges as much as they do, the least they can do is offer good customer service. To be greeted and end your treatment with a rude receptionist is completely unacceptable, especially since your clients are the reason you have a business to work at and receive a paycheck. I guess Cameron at the front desk doesn’t know her job description at this place lol. Extremely regretful that I gave this place my business twice. It’s unfortunate because my actual masseuse was nice. There’s no shortage of nice spa’s in Newport so save your money and use it towards an actual luxury spa! At least there you will be treated with respect by...
