I can’t even put into words how exceptional our stay at The Chanler was! My husband took me for a special birthday weekend a few weeks ago and it was truly the best birthday gift thanks to the wonderful staff and overall amazing experience we had. From our initial arrival the manager Kristina at the front desk made us feel welcomed and taken care of! She is an excellent manager! Everyone we encountered was kind, warm, and beyond accommodating. Our room was simply gorgeous with a fireplace and a private courtyard with hot tub. We were greeted by a hand written birthday card from the staff and the most delicious English toffee! Kristina then arranged a reservation for us for the 8 course chefs tasting menu the next night at Cara, the hotel’s restaurant. If you are in town to celebrate something it is a definite must do! The whole dining experience was so unique and memorable. The food was perfectly prepared and the best part was chef Jacob coming out before each course to explain what amazingness was about to grace our palates! It was simply one of the best meals I’ve ever had! And to top it off I was sent on my way with a stunning box of chocolates for my birthday! It was so special! I truly can’t say enough about our weekend at the Chanler. The rooms are perfectly designed and decorated, the house itself is a wonder to behold, the location right on the cliff walk with breathtaking ocean views is the best spot in Newport, all of this makes The Chanler a gorgeous 5 star hotel, but it is the staff that truly puts it above every other luxury hotel. Every single person we encountered was simply beyond professional while also being kind friendly, thoughtful, and accommodating. We are already planning our next excuse to go back! If you’re looking to celebrate something special or just looking for a luxurious and restorative weekend (or week) away this is the place to go!

I live in Newport and have been here numerous times throughout the year. I absolutely love the sophistication, menu and bar options. The service is impeccable and I find the staff to be warm, welcoming and very sincere. As locals we strive to support businesses in both their high and low season. But I had to rate this establishment at a three overall because I was sorely disappointed multiple times when calling ahead to find out if lawn service and bar was open — the man who answered the phone and catered to my question was distant, cold and rude. He made me feel as if I were a second class citizen for not being a hotel guest and was rude explaining that service outside on the lawn was reserved for guests — I’ve never been turned away there so found this incredibly rude. It was a disappointment for the 4 friends we had visiting. We had hoped to spend a few hours on the own drinking cocktails Wednesday afternoon - but at the price they cost, his rude manner and unwillingness to convey whether we’d actually be able to enjoy some private lawn time really made me pause. Instead we went to another cliff side restaurant and spent over 700$ dining. I’m summers, While the Chanler is only 4 blocks from our home and we’ve had multiple friends stay there - and it’s always been our first local choice for a cocktail and respite from the business of life, I am not sure how long I will frequent it if ever again. The welcoming nature to residents needs to be improved - and at a minimum the man answering their phones should be schooled with some manners. And there’s one thing Newport is y short of - fine dining and views! There are many other fine dining and drinking establishments to enjoy with outstanding views. This isn’t the only game in town. It’s a shame though - until Yesterdays phone call I always felt welcome and special ~ whether I had a hotel room or not!

The incredible service started just moments after booking online, when I received a phone call confirming my reservations. I was able to customize the accommodations and learn more about our stay. As we pulled up to the enchanting location, we had the pleasure of being met by Kristina for a tour of the grounds. Upon arrival, we were delighted by early entry into our beautiful guest rooms. We couldn’t believe the attention to detail throughout the hotel but specifically in the accommodations. By the time we got to our room, the seamless staff beat us there with our luggage, jackets perfectly hanging in the closet. Our guest room continued to be magically perfected while we were away, with surprises waiting for us on our pillows. We returned to fresh water in the fridge, wires organized by the bed and toiletries perfect at the sink. The features in the room rivaled the quality and luxury of any five star hotels such as automated blinds, automatic fireplace, heated floors and a truly luxurious shower experience. This is a historic building with charm, but does not show signs of suchq in terms of the luxurious finishes that adorn the room. The true magic of this hotel was the staff and the seamless communication that happens behind the scenes to create magic for the guest. This was hospitality at its finest all around. Kristina told us upon arrival that they aim for their guest to not have to think about any of their needs during their stay. After witnessing first hand, I can say that the team successfully stayed one step ahead of our every possible want for the duration of our visit.

Loved everything about this spot: Beautiful room, delicious foods, evening jazz, helpful staff, great amenities, ocean view. We stayed in the English Tudor room, which was a travel back in time, complete with luxurious, modern fixings and finishing touches, including a jacuzzi, big/fluffy bed, duel-nozzle shower, chocolates on our pillow, s'mores for the fire pit, a gas fireplace, a comfortable couch and seating area, and opera music filling the room when we checked in. The valet was extremely helpful with its pickup and dropoff service, which employed two Buick SUVs to take guests in and out of town. This was an extremely useful option, since hailing a cab is not an option, and we didn't want to drive everywhere. The Spiced Pear is one of the most exquisite dining experiences I've had in a while. I had heirloom tomato soup, mushroom risotto with a quinoa base, and hand-painted chocolates for dessert, alongside the tastiest cocktails: the Spiced Pear and the French Pear. All of this was followed by a stop in the bar area, where a live jazz band was playing classic jazz songs and seasoned couples were trotting around, enjoying their loves' company. The stay is a bit pricey, but worth the experience. The staff pays attention to detail and makes the stay worth every penny. I only regret that there are now 24 rooms I haven't stayed in, as they're all unique!

This is one of the best hotels I've ever been to! The staff is very friendly, decent, everything is at the highest level. The chateau itself is simply magnificent, the location is very pleasant, the interior is incredible, the location is very beautiful! There is a walking trail nearby, walking along which you can see beautiful ocean views and luxurious estates. The room was very nice, perfectly clean, we were treated to sweets and there was water and coffee available, which was very nice. When we went out for a walk after dinner for less than an hour, a surprise awaited us when we returned. All things were folded, charger cords were neatly folded, slippers were prepared by the bed, splashes in the bathroom were cleaned up and new towels were already waiting for us. My husband and I were pleasantly surprised at how quickly and perfectly they cleaned our room, even though we didn’t asked. This is the highest level! The food in the restaurant was very tasty and the presentation was beautiful, thanks to the chefs! The waiters are very nice and professional. At checkout we received a bottle of olive oil as a gift, very unexpected and pleasant. I really enjoyed my stay in Newport in this chateau, I will be happy to come back here ❤️

It’s going to be difficult to put into words just how magnificent this hotel is but I will give it a shot! This was a very special stay for us. We spent one night in the Nantucket, celebrating a 55th birthday. The stay started with driving through wrought iron gates, a view of one of the most beautiful hotels I’ve ever seen, our doors being opened for us and glasses of sparkling wine. The grounds are pristine and the location is one of a kind. Everyone at the front desk is exceptional at what they do. I had our dinner reservation changed three times with ease and a genuine willingness to assist. The gentlemen that escorted us to our room was so knowledgeable, giving us a brief history of the hotel and our room. The view from this room is literally breathtaking. Waking up to the sun glistening off the ocean from our own private deck was something I will never forget. It is truly one of the most magical places I’ve ever been to. On our departure we were gifted a beautiful bottle of olive oil. I highly recommend The Chanler and will most certainly be back. This hotel hits every single mark and exceeds expectations.
