About a week ago, my mother and I stopped in for some dinner. We have lived on the island our whole lives, but had yet to eat at many of the places in Newport. Many of our friends have suggested we check out "Pasta Beach" one night. With all the great compliments, we had high expectations. But truthfully, we were very disappointed and most likely will not be going back. The only reason I give 2 stars is because the waitress we had was very kind and attentive. She also displayed anxiety and upset over our experience and none of what occurred was her fault what-so-ever. The second and only other plus I give: The manager also expressed her disappointment in what occurred and payed for our bill in full. So, the dinner itself was no were near good, however how it was handled was incredibly impressive. Here's what happened: Upon arriving there was going to be an hour wait for a table, the bar was free though. We chose to sit there. This was not an issue, my family and I don't mind where we sit as long as we get good service and food. For an appetizer we got "Bruschetta Agilio", In general this was very good. However, a little overly oily. (Please excuse my inability to remember the exact name of my mothers dish) Essentially she got "Spaghetti with Meat Sauce.". I ordered a "Pepperoni Pizza w/ Extra Cheese, Onion & Mushroom.". The first thing that came out was my Pizza. I immediately noted some things that could be improved. All the toppings were placed in the center and I had to spread them out myself. The onions were almost completely uncooked. The mozzarella was clumpy and basically un-melted. To the touch it was more 'slightly warm' and not hot. Anyways, in my family it's a sign of respect and good manners to not begin eating until all food has arrived to their respective parties and everyone can start together. So we waited on my mother pasta. And waited...and waited. Remember, we sat at the bar, which meant we were in direct line of the kitchen and could see the food be cooked and plated. Our waitress started to become anxious and we verbally heard her asking where the second dish was. She started pacing the bar waiting just as much as we were. As we watched the cooks, there was a slight discomfort in a specific action. One cook had longer hair, that's fine. But, he had no cap of any sort and kept running his finger through said hair, WHILE he continued to cook. 15 minutes later, my mothers pasta was put in front of her. In that time, my pizza went from warm to cool. First bite, no flavor at all. I had to ask for both parmesan cheese and red pepper flakes. Both of which I sprinkled generously, along with salt. This made it okay to eat, not entirely enjoyable, but okay. My mother on the other hand had a probably unusual note. Her "Meat Sauce" wasn't really sauce. It was more ground beef with just a dab of sauce. There was TOO much meat. Still we ate. About 15 minutes in, I went to take a bite of my pizza, only to freeze. On my slice was a large peice of plastic. I immediately identified what it was. It was a peice of sleeve from around what pepperoni is kept in. That was the last straw. We called over the manager and explained our experience. I repeat, she was incredibly kind and upset these events went on and took care of our meal 100%. Still, with the amount of good reviews we received not only from friends, but also online, we expected a superb and unforgettable experience. Instead we both agreed we most likely would never go back. Maybe others experiences were very good. Maybe this was just a bad night. Either way, there are far better restaurants we have now tried in Newport that we recommend more than this one. Top two suggestions: "The Mooring" and "O'Brien's". You're very unlikely to have an unsatisfactory...

Pretty good place. Definitely one of the few of my favorite restaurants in Newport. Food is fairly good and comes out fast.

Some of the tables in the dining rooms are way too cramped up next to each other. They provide no space or privacy between guests.

Service is iffy depending on what server you get. Servers are generally good here, but there are a few that are just awful. There is a particular woman server with blonde curly hair (never paid attention to her name) that consistently did a poor job serving us. We had her as a server twice in a row, and she just seemed to lack the skills of what it is to be a good server. She always seemed to be in a rush to take our order and leave our table. She never brought bread to the table, a different person did. She gave us the appetizers and comes back for 3 seconds to ask how it was and literally darts off the second we said “it was good.” We asked for more bread for the table. She responded with “more bread ?” in a way that seemed like she was utterly confused and could not understand why we asked. Then she took forever to drop off our entrees and we sat there forever waiting for her to come back to clear the table. When she does, she didn't even ask how the food was. Also, never brought more bread or napkins as we asked her to. Then took forever to bring our check. We literally had to flag her down to get her to bring the check, otherwise we would have been sitting there forever.

Second time was no different. We sat at the bar this time. She seemed to have no knowledge of the menu. When asked if an entree had a particular item on it, she said yes. When it came out, it didn’t have the item on it . She gave us our appetizer after it was sitting for a while on the counter (we were literally staring at it.) Never came back to clear the appetizers. Then took forever to give us our entrees, and we saw our food waiting in the window. Then ANOTHER server actually finally brought it to us. This OTHER server actually asked us if we needed anything else and she provided us with what we asked. Appetizers were still on the table while eating our food because OUR server never cleared them. Entrees were good but again we sat there forever with our appetizers and entree plates in front of us . Another server actually ended up clearing them for us since I think they realized how long we were sitting there with them.

Very ditsy and fits the description of “dumb blonde” but not...

Called for takeout and just wanted a basic Chicken Parm. I was aware it was not on the menu but figured the ingredients were and it IS a pasta place. I was told I would have to order the Milanese di Pollo with a side of pasta. I was on the Ferry coming back from Block Island and did not check on pricing, my fault. So, I accepted, asked for penne pasta and if they could put the arugula and tomatoes on the side and cook the chicken with cheese on top. I was told no on the cheese 🤯. At that moment I should have cancelled and ordered elsewhere but I wanted to try a new place and was craving Chicken Parm. I have worked in Italian restaurants and the Hospitality industry for quite awhile and never would I tell a customer no when we have the ingredients to do something so basic. They had the food ready on time - however, it rang up to $40! The Milanese di Pollo was $22.50 and the spaghetti pasta (not the penne I asked for) $13.50, plus taxes. $40, no cheese, pasta sauce was dry and bland and didn't come with the requested pasta and didn't even come with bread. Chicken Parm should not be $40! I thought they would make it happen and ring it up as a Milanese di Pollo (with only one piece of chicken - I wouldn't have known the difference), include the pasta and call it a day. $25-$30 is more than enough for this dish - not $40. If the business makes out like this good for them but personally, I never write reviews but I did not find the food, nor the customer service, nor the price a reason to...

Pasta Beach was recommended by a good friend of ours who had heard great things about it but had not yet visited. We decided to check it out one evening, arriving around 8 p.m. with hopes of finding a spot at the bar. The restaurant was bustling. All the tables, both indoor and outdoor, were occupied. However, we were pleased to find plenty of seats available at the two bars. We chose to sit at the back bar, which had chairs with backs—a nice touch for comfort. The two bartenders were fantastic, expertly managing the entire restaurant with impressive efficiency. Their recommendations were spot on. We tried the pasta with clams and the lasagna. The clam dish was exceptionally fresh, with superb flavor. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his lasagna, describing it as "real good." We stayed at the Viking Hotel, making the walk to Pasta Beach a delightful evening stroll. Overall, Pasta Beach is a must-visit if you want great service and delicious food around Bellevue Ave. The lively atmosphere and attentive bartenders made our dining experience memorable.

Underwhelmed. We’ve had plenty of great experiences in Newport + Providence restaurants and this wasn’t one of them. Our hostess asked if we were fine with a high top (even though their was seating in the front) which we agreed to, however, we didn’t realize that high top was right next to the fire alarm and an exit. My chair was halfway on a doormat making it difficult to move. It looked like they just wanted to stuff us in a corner. We asked our waitress if it would be possible to move and we saw her chatting with the hostess and a few other workers at the bar about it just for her to return and say that our only options were to sit at the counter or stay at our seats. We didn’t feel our waitress was very friendly. Never received refills on our drinks. The pizza was mediocre and floppy. It looked like they just threw a few basil leaves on it. Parking on the lot right next door is expensive, it’s better to find street parking near by. Overall, PLENTY of better food options nearby.

*Updated below* The food is consistently excellent. With Italians (from Italy, not Fed Hill) at the helm, you get limited, high quality ingredients, not piles of melted cheese and stodgy sauce. The pizza is as close to Napoli as you can get, the portions generous and the service and atmosphere great for a cozy date or a night with the kids. A true italian menu. *The new location is really lovely. It’s spacious yet cozy with a nice bar, cushioned beach seating, a few slight menu changes and a fireplace in addition to the pizza oven and pizziaolo as you enter. Pictured is the pacchieri with mozzarella di bufala. Now that I type this it’s REALLY important to note that they use *real* mozzarella in this dish from the milk of Italian water buffalo. It’s an authentic imported product that’s richer in flavor than the American flavorless kind. That gives this place even more points because most places lie and serve the American stuff. Bravo, guys!
