Today, I visited EverPresent to pick up digitized family 8MM films and VHS tapes. This was my second time having EverPresent digitize family keepsakes, having used their services, for the first time, two years ago.
Everything went smoothly: dropping off the items (they also offer pickup service), an initial consult, providing me with the cost of digitizing the items, emails telling me how the project was proceeding, and easy pickup of the finished project.
I liked receiving a two-page paper from them titled, "Your Film Transfer Quality Review." This page identified various imperfections in certain films, along with explanations of why the imperfections might exist. In this case, I had dropped off films from the 1940's through 1960's. (They labeled all films, slides, and tapes, so if you have everything placed on a Flash drive, like I did, it is highly organized.)
I highly recommend EverPresent for transferring any old films, slides, or tapes. They continue to do an excellent job of making memories last, i.e., taking old technology, making it new again. After searching online for a company that could digitize 8 MM film, and slides, that my father took of us as a family in the 1950âs-1960âs, I found EVERPRESENT. Their website is thorough, professional, easy to read, and understand. On the phone, they were friendly, answered all of my questions, and followed up the conversation with an email, providing me with pertinent information relating to my project.
It was easy for me to drive to their location, drop off the slides and film, and then after a few days, speak to a consultant about the project, get an estimate, and move forward. Emails were sent to me weekly, mentioning the progress that was being made on digitizing my materials. Once my order had âofficially passed their rigorous quality control process,â I was notified that I would have 60 days to access the EVERPRESENT app, to view and download the slides and film.
All along the way, this experience was a positive one. The results of the project were what I had envisioned. I submitted the project in September; it was finished in October, ahead of the estimated time. And I have already shared the digitized film and slides with my brother and sister, as a gift, for Thanksgiving.
I am happy that I was able to find a company, locally, that I could leave my precious slides and film with. I will definitely come back to EVERPRESENT in the spring to turn in more film to be digitized. Beyond working with highly professional, and friendly people, the best part was that the price of the project came in under what was estimated. This was a winning situation all the way around. I highly recommend that you go to the EVERPRESENT website to do your own research, and then give them a call. I am so happy that they were able to preserve the family memories (slides and film) that I had been holding on to for...
Read moreThis is an update to my recent review posted 3 weeks ago. After 7 phone calls and 2 trips to the Burlington Mall to locate my film reel, I finally got a call back from a Jody. Jody was very apologetic, empathetic to my experience, pleasant and willing to help resolve my problem. She offered to digitize my film reel and waive the $30.00 fee. She expedited the order and I received it within a week. Because Jody was pleasant to work with, fulfilled everything she promised and did a nice job digitizing my film reel, I gave a rating of 3 stars, but I give this rating with much trepidation. This resolution should have been made the first time I called and I should not have had to go through the hassle and frustration I had to go through. Therefore, I urge anyone who wants to digitize their film or videos to carefully check out all companies and if you use EverPresent, make sure you ask all the right questions and get everything in writing. Just use caution when using this company. Maybe ask for Jody!
Do not use this company! I brought one 50 ft film reel to their satellite office at the Burlington Mall The representative there had no idea about the process, etc. Couldn't answer any of my questions and couldn't even find the forms to label my film and give me some kind of acknowledgement that I dropped the film off. This was a minor concern. The worst thing about this company is that they charge a whopping $30.00 fee just to process it on top of the cost to digitize the reel, whether you have one film or 0ne hundred. I wouldn't have been so upset, if I was informed about this $30.00 fee. Then I could have made an informed decision not to use this company since there are so many other competitive companies out there that do not charge a standard $30.00 fee. One company I researched charges $12.99 for a 50 ft reel. I already sent them about 40 reels. I found this one later and thought it would be easy enough to work with a local company. Not so! When I argued with them about not informing me as they should have and asked for a discount or waiver of the $30.00 fee, they agreed it was wrong and I had a right to be upset, but would not do anything to compensate for their error. They wouldn't even send the reel back to my home free of charge - they would charge me shipping and handling for their error! Do research and look for another company to digitize your films, videos etc. Don't use this company - they clearly are not for the customer and do not stand behind their company...
Read moreI am extremely unhappy with this company. I have a small project of pics from my Dad in the â40s. I met with a consultant at their headquarters and asked for the pics (about 50+) to be scanned and we reviewed the back of the photos where my dad had wrote some notes/comments on. I asked for those backs to be scanned. Oh and first before going into headquarters, I had an initial call from sales and told the rep what I needed done. After my visit to HQ, dropping off photos and putting order in, I get a call from another consultant to review project again. He puts quote together. On the quote - the scan of the backs was called âcaptionsâ and cost more than just the basic scan. Maybe I should have questioned this⌠after 4 weeks my project was done. I was charged the balance and havenât seen an invoice yet. Got my photos uploaded to their app. But no scan of the backs- they put captions (the comments from the backs) as the document title. I called to inquire last week - and spoke with original consultant from headquarters (who said she would call back) but this week I get a generic email saying that if I want the backs scanned, I can drop my photos off. I never even picked them up!! So I write back to the generic customer service email to say all this and how unhappy I am. And then get another generic email back about how they are checking the digital resolution!! What? They must have automatic macro generated customer service emails going out. I cannot imagine a person on the other side reading my email and responding like that. I am a very unhappy customer- with a project that was not done correctly and they still have my photos, even tho they told me to drop them off to scan the backs. Going to call tomorrow and hopefully get my photos (and the USB that I paid for) because now I donât trust them...
