The Running Place — Attraction in Newtown Township

Located in the Newton Square Shopping Center near the Panera Bread.

I have been running religiously for five years now and a running friend of mine told me I should check this place out. As soon as I walked in the gentleman behind the counter asked my name and introduced himself to me, so I felt like a real person and not just another customer coming through the door. This place has a great friendly feel too it.

He took plenty of time with me, making sure he really knew what I needed in a running shoe (he watched me walk to check my gait, looked at my old shoes to see my wear patterns, talked to me about how much support I needed in a shoe, told me where I should notice wear in my shoes to make sure I was running correctly. I tried on multiple pairs of shoes, and went outside and ran around in each pair. The prices were in line with other stores in the area but the attention I received was the most impressive thing about this place. These guys are great.

I have been a loyal customer since The Running Place opened! Great advice and wonderful folks there....always! Today I had a moment while running another errand to stop buy to get new running shoes. The sign in the window suggested making an appointment. Another sign said walk ins were welcome. So I thought I would see if I could be a walk in! The employee who met me asked in an annoyed voice if I had an appointment. I apologized and said I did not but saw the walk in sign. She said she could not see me right away and that was okay with me. I said I would leave and make an appointment to come back at another time. She raised her voice and in a very nasty way said that she was finished with her current client and COULD see me after all. I found her attitude and loud voice off putting and said that was ok...I'd rather come back at another time. After thinking about this exchange, I have decided not to go back. Sad. Went here for the first time to buy new running shoes based off a recommendation from a family friend. I couldn't be more happy I did! I walked in and was initially greeted and paired up with Ken (one of the owners) who spent his time explaining all of the different types of shoes, the science behind it, analyzed my old shoes & running style, and gave me recommendations. He took his time and wasn't pushy and gave me multiple options to choose from. It was apparent that he cares a lot about the customers and the sport of running and is very knowledgeable. Overall, I had an amazing experience and can't recommend this place enough whether your a seasoned running or a novice. They have a wide range of shoes and running apparel. I will definitely be returning when I need my next pair of...
