Words can't describe my heartache and my disappointment at my only daughters wedding at this venue.
Before COVID we had a wedding, one we hoped a lifetime to give our daughter.
We have 1 daughter and my hesitation in posting this review is due to not further disappointing her... But I really need to share our experience. I have no happy memories only heartache for that last year!
The morning started in the Bridal Suite, as we were served stale croissants and bagels...being a lover of breakfast cakes, I couldn't even eat them and I was so surprised at the poor quality. This was unfortunately the prelude to a day of disappointments from Finley Catering.
People who we don't even know are in the background of our photos, they were visiting the wedding venue for their own wedding selection. This was unbelievable we rented the venue...who were these people sitting in the reception area? Now they are seen in the background of our wedding photographs!
The cocktails tables were not put in the middle of the room. This room is narrow and rectangular. So when the room was filled with people, they didn't see the appetizer tables..which were positioned against the walls. Especially the seafood table which was strategically positioned at the farthest part of the room. We all missed it!
There weren't ample servers, so when I walked around the cocktail room to talk to our guests and I didn't see anyone with food in their hands, I was horrified. Most guests were not served any appetizers. Finley claimed they had 6 servers, that is not enough servers for a large wedding, howbeit, I didn't see a server, and most people didn't get served an appetizer.
They ran out of food at one of the dinner tables and while everyone was eating string beans Finely served this table vegetables from the appetizer table. And then they waited 20 minutes after everyone was served to get their dinner. They got fish when they selected filet. THEY RAN OUT OF FOOD AT OUR DAUGHTER'S WEDDING!
Then... Finley served filets to people who didn't come, to empty seats and then didn't have the correct food for those who were there. MISMANAGEMENT! Really you didn't see anyone seated at a table but you served the meal anyway?
The desserts were served in a different room and no one heard the announcement, so most of the people missed this including the groom. bride, the parents and most of the guests.
The cake cutting was hurried, most people missed it, they then rushed cut the cake and put the cake in bags on a tray in the foyer. People were walking around eating out of bags with their fingers! Another horrifying scene.
This is just a few of the many things that went wrong. Finley supplied the DJ at the after wedding party, who was rude. One of the bar tenders was rude.
I had people share their experience and I had many volunteer their disappointments. I then called many of my guests and asked them..Did you know there was a dessert room? Did you get appetizers? TOO MANY SAID NO...Most didn't know there was seafood and most didn't know there was a dessert room... I could go on and on...
Don't have your wedding here, it's in a development of buildings in a busy area...there are much nicer venues!
My sadness is deep and I remain very disappointed at my only daughter's wedding. You do it once, you only get one chance to make...
Read moreWent to my Partners daughter’s wedding there on Sunday 11/27/2022 and this venue was just perfect. The setup for the wedding part was perfectly setup and decorated to the high point. After the wedding part and before dinner the area setup for drinks and some finger food was really super. More then finger food was available; a large box tray about 3’ x 5’ contained hundreds of jumbo shrimp cocktail on a bed of ice along with a huge ice sculpture of married couples initials, served on the tables was a large assortments of hot food including penne macaroni with Bollanese sauce, hand carved Roast Beef cooked perfectly, a large variety of cooked vegetables including asparagus, zucchini, eggplant and other vegetables. A very large variety of cheeses from around the world, thinly sliced Genoa Salami and Italian Prosciutto, breaded & fried mozzarella sticks with a homemade Italian sauce, hot breaded crab balls, mini steak sandwiches and a large variety of olives from South America to Italy. Of course a full bar was open with multiple bartenders so there was never lines waiting for drinks. Thou you need to be careful otherwise you will fill yourself with just these foods prior to dinner. Seating at low tables were plentiful as well as 3’ round high tables. At dinner you had your choice of filet or salmon which came with white rice and broccoli. During dinner you had soft music and of course a full bar. One of the novel beverages served before, during and after dinner was freshly brewed coffee that some of us prefer to drink while eating. The wedding cake was a butter crème cake addressed by a full sweet table.
Located in Newtown Square, PA right off of West Chester Pike, it was only a 50 minute drive from our South Philly home, door to door, taking Walnut Street to Cobbs Creek then West Chester Pike right to our hotel, Hilton Garden Inn, which is just a quarter of a mile to the Ballroom. Of course there are several ways of getting there taking 95S to the Blue Route but it was raining pretty hard so we preferred the local, safer way.
Finally if you’re getting married or having a big event, I strongly recommend checking this place out. I’ll guess there was roughly 180 to 200 in attendance. Though there was much more room for...
Read moreWe got married at the Ballroom at Ellis Preserve this weekend and it was absolutely amazing. Guests are still talking about how great everything was from venue to the food and staff.
We started off by working with Megan who was a total angel from the start. She is truly such a pleasure to be around and she is a major part of what sold us on the venue. She is so responsive, so helpful, so kind, accommodating and overall amazing at her job. Seeing her on our wedding day just made me feel confident that nothing would go wrong. She is a major asset to this venue and we cannot thank her enough.
Abel, the maitre D is a literal saint. He nailed the entire day and made sure it ran so smooth, and if I had a question, a need, a request, he handled it right there on the spot. It was almost unreal how amazing he is at his job. The day was planned out by the minute and it truly could not of gone any better. We also cannot thank him enough and he is another major asset to this venue.
Our bridal suite attendant Shannon ( I think that was her name, I’m sorry if it’s wrong) was another amazing amazing person. She saw me getting out of my heels and without hesitation, came over and switched my shoes for me, she made sure we had everything we needed and was such a pleasure to be around .
The food was spectacular, absolutely incredible. From the cocktail hour to the entree’s, I was stopped every 5 seconds by guests raving about how good everything was. It was served timely, it was fresh, I wouldn’t change a thing.
The bartenders were some of the kindest souls I ever met and kept the guests happy and filled all night.
The staff as a whole are truly passionate about what they do and they understand what an important day this is for the bride and groom and we are so happy with our decision to go with this venue. There is not a single thing I would of changed about the entire experience with Finley Catering and it’s staff.
12/10 experience, I would relive it over and...
