Subject: My Recent Experience and Previous Positive Impressions with Berkshire Emporium & Antiques This review reflects my recent interaction with the owner of Berkshire Emporium & Antiques, acknowledging there are always two sides. Three years ago, I gave a 5-star rating for their variety; pricing often reflects market trends. Overall, it's a well-managed store. My recent visit involved a MOTU collection (Eternia playset, figures/vehicles) acquired late 2024. In Nov/Dec 2024, the owner said he'd price them by Jan/Feb 2025. In January, I emailed, offering to help sort/price the collection, including resource links, to maximize its value. My only request was an opportunity to make an offer for my personal MOTU collection. After two months without a reply, I visited. The owner tersely confirmed seeing my email but hadn't read it. I briefly explained my offer. Without apology, he stated he'd price them "when he could," agreeing to reach out. As of June 2025, there's been no progress. An employee later suggested the owner's reaction stemmed from a fear of being swindled, or a desire to keep unique items unpriced for interest. I clarified my email's resources were meant to prevent swindling. My intent was simply a fair bidding opportunity; I don't engage in swindling. The perception was unfortunate. Clear communication and responsiveness are vital in customer interactions, especially when assistance is offered. My experience fell short this time; I hope this feedback is taken...
Read moreUpdated (8/26/2025) purchased a PDP L50 Gaming headset... Gave me a little work around on price, very kind of him.... I didn't realize it was missing the gaming headset charger and a Dongle to even be able to operate and use the device. Unfortunately, this headset CANNOT be used "manually" with just a cord... It can ONLY be operated thru the "Dongle", which I have to buy ($13.99) online.... I've tried calling them NUMEROUES times on 8/28, simply asking for a call back to see if they could hold a specific item for 45 minutes, AND to see if they'd be open... Because I stopped down at 10am, and they had a tiny sticky note saying "sorry were closed till 1"... It's now 3:50... Still no call back, OR answer.... so I tried calling, again, still ignored.... Not cool considering how much business I've given this place!! It just seems like they don't care who their high paying consumers are, nor care at all about the customer base.... They don't seem to show any appreciation or common decency, even for a CALL BACK.... Absolutely...
Read moreThis place has room after room after nook, crazy-filled with curiosities, old and new toys and clothing; used books, records, videos, games, CDs, cassettes, audio equipment, comic books, empty beer can collections, antique cameras, furniture, housewares, tsotckies, Hummels, and musical instruments; retro candies; fudge, coffee and baked goods (including gluten free). Meter parking on the street or free at Big Y lot a block or so away. The only reason to not rate 5 stars is accessibility is limited in some areas, and music, movies, game cartridges, and comics aren't in any searchable order. There are steep stairs to a lower level, and some aisles are too crowded for wheelchairs. Some areas require squeezing into in order to paw through the treasures. One could spend a day here browsing or digging around looking for that one comic book or album (the hundreds of them aren't categorized). Prices are reasonable.
