Public Eat & Drink is nestled just a few minutes' walk from the vibrant Mass MoCA museum in North Adams. This industrial chic restaurant is a delightful culinary gem that encapsulates the essence of comfort food with a modern twist. The ambiance strikes a perfect balance between rustic charm and contemporary style, featuring an array of talented local art that enhances the industrial aesthetic and creates a warm, inviting atmosphere. The menu boasts a range of American cuisine classics, but what sets this restaurant apart is their innovative approach. The standout dish for me was undoubtedly the fennel sausage mussels, which were hands down the best I've ever had. The combination of flavors was nothing short of spectacular, elevating a traditional favorite into an extraordinary dining experience. To complement my meal, I indulged in their crafted cocktails, each one meticulously prepared and bursting with unexpected flavor. The pineapple rice pudding, served as a delightful surprise, wrapped up my meal beautifully. Its unexpected twist was a highlight, showcasing the chef’s creativity and commitment to making comfort food exciting. The service was equally impressive; the staff were friendly, attentive, and exhibited a thorough knowledge of both the menu and the local area. Their passion for the food and the community was evident in every interaction. Overall, this restaurant is a must-visit for anyone in the North Adams area. With its deliciously creative cuisine, enjoyable ambiance, and top-notch service, it effortlessly combines the best of industrial style with culinary excellence.

As two friends who enjoy good food we were excited to try this place before a concert on Friday night. Based on the high rating of Google reviews we had high hopes. Although nothing about our experience was terrible it definitely didn't leave us planning to return. The bartender was not very friendly, she seemed like she didn't really enjoy people and didn't make any effort to connect with any guests that we saw, and certainly not us. She did ensure our waters were full which we appreciated and our food came out quickly which was nice. I got the fish & chips and my friend got the falafel. My fish & chips had a weird texture, the batter just slipped off the fish and it had a strong pickle taste which wasn't mentioned on the menu; I assume it was brined in pickle juice, as someone who doesn't like pickles I found it overpowering. The tartar sauce had nice flavors and I could tell it was homemade. My friend said her falafel had a very odd texture, it was completely smooth, and normally falafel isn't smooth, she ate a few bites but wasn't a fan. We had planned to try dessert but with our disappointing meals we decided to forgo it. Perhaps we were there on an off night, but our experience certainly left something to be desired.

I went with my family for dinner and we had a great experience! The food was very good. I got the Raspberry No-jito because I don't drink, and it was super refreshing, and not overpoweringly sweet. For apps, we got the Tuna Nachos and the Grilled Calamari. As a person who is not a huge fan of fish, both had a pretty mild fish taste, and I could eat both. I forgot to take pictures 😔. I was hungry. For my main I got the Public Burger with the impossible burger replacement (I don't eat beef). It was very good, and it was pretty juicy and the fries are really good. Get a side of the garlic aioli if you can!! Dessert was the Coconut Rice Pudding and it was a great refreshing dessert to end the meal. It wasn't overly sweet and the presentation was very cute. Service was also very good, our waitress was very nice, and left the bacon for my burger on the side in case I didn't eat meat. She was thoughtful and genuine. I would say that if you want to eat during rush hour, make a reservation. We were a party of four, and we had to sit at a high top lol, we made it work though. Overall, we had a very good experience, would come again :D

My wife and I were really looking forward to trying this place, but we left without ordering food because of terrible customer service. Even with a dinner reservation it took 20 minutes to get a table and another 10 minutes to get asked for our order
and unfortunately we had negative staff interactions throughout the entire time.

We arrived on time for our dinner reservation and were told by the hostess it would still be 5-10min at least for a table. Annoying, but we get it that things can get busy during a dinner rush so we were understanding. She told us that we can sit at the bar. There weren't bar seats available yet but we ordered drinks while standing. When bar seats became available we sat down at the bar, but the bartender told us there's a wait list for sitting at the bar... even though there was nobody else waiting for the bar, and only backed off once we explained that the hostess previously told us to sit at the bar.

At this point, another two-person party who arrived after us already quickly got seated at a table. So I went back to the front to see how our table was going. The hostess was no longer there so I had to explain to a manager that we were waiting for a table. He took a few minutes but he got us to a table finally (now 20min after arrival)
but the table we got had been available the whole time we arrived, which suggests that we could have actually have been seated earlier, nobody worked on our table the whole time was waiting
and we would have been waiting indefinitely if we had never brought it up with the manager.

After that, it took 5 minutes for anyone to bring us any water and another 5 minutes for an order. At that point we told the waiter we were leaving. The manager came by to try to get us to stay. We declined and got dinner elsewhere.

Reading other reviews sadly it looks like things like this commonly happen to other customers as well. Maybe the food is great like the reviews say, but we don't plan on ever finding out. Hopefully we can save someone reading this a headache experience here and they can go somewhere...

My brother, Randy, and I have been driving about an hour and forty-five minutes to ski at Jiminy Peak this season. After working up quite an appetite on the slopes, we were in need of good food and good drinks. We found Public Eat+Drink on our second trip over, and since then it’s been the go to stop before heading home.

They have a large beer selection on tap (many of them “local”) and many more bottle options. The food is amazing. Their truffle fries are the first thing we order each time. There is just enough extra flavor between the truffle oil and grated cheese to not seem out of place on the menu. The rest of the menu is full of delicious and unique dishes in varying price ranges. I’ve had chorizo tacos, pasta with rabbit and vegetables, and a bbq pork flatbread with the most flavorful pickled cherry tomatoes. Throughout several visits they’ve changed our various menu items, but they have been substituted with equally delicious and creative dishes, so no worry if your favorite dish is missing - you’ll soon find a new one.

The ambience is perfect. The lights are set low, which is nice because it makes it easy to see out the huge windows that line one wall. It fits well with the decor and vibe of the place too. This place is cozy, and when we usually show up sometime between 5 and 7pm it’s not too busy. Even the one time we went where there was quite a crowd, we were still able to carry a conversation without being overpowered by everyone else’s.

This is a great place for both locals and people passing through. Treat yourself to...
