Jax Chop Shop — Attraction in North Arlington

After hearing so many of my work colleagues and friends recommend this place, I figured I’d put them to the test with my unruly hair that takes loads of gel and hairspray to tame.

I made an appointment with Luis, due to his many reviews, I expected a good service. I arrived 15 minutes before my appointment and he was finishing up haircut. While I waited another barber asked if I’d like water or an espresso. Yes, you heard that right! An espresso lol I responded with “Are you serious” they said “Ofcourse, Sugar or no sugar”?

I was served a delicious espresso as I waited to be served. I sat there admiring all the decor and colors. There’s a huge Mural in the front next to a New York Times dispenser. The Withered and faded Flag above me really resonated with me because my family served and I assume someone here did?

Luis approached me and shook my hand while introducing himself. I explained how hard it was to style my hair and to find a proper barber/stylist. He said not to worry, we’ll figure this out together. He then proceeded to come my hair and different ways to find my natural part and what would work with my cowlicks. He recommended a style that’s I’ve gotten before but what he did was a much more elevated style than what I’ve gotten. He used scissors, clippers, a razor, a diffuser for my curls and different brushes. He even evened out my mustache and goatee.. (It’s the closest thing to a beard I can grow lol)

In addition to my service, the music was very eclectic to say the least and the “Barbershop Talk” was hilarious. I found my new barbershop for sure. I would totally recommend it but book in advance because all the waiting chairs were full, so there were people sitting outside on Wooden...

I have been going to JAX Chop Shop for my haircuts and trims for 2 to 3 years now, and this place definitely has some great customer service and solid barbers! They were in a smaller place next door initially, and due to the rising popularity of this barber shop, they moved to a larger place next door!

I always get my haircut from Luis and he consistently does a great job. He always takes his time and prides himself on the details, so that alone keeps me coming back. The staff and other barbers are very nice, as they always ask me if I need a drink, coffee, or espresso while waiting. There are always good conversations going on while I am here!
