Smoke Odyssey — Restaurant in Kearny

Great family owned traditional smoked BBQ restaurant. I’ve eaten just about everything on the menu and loved it all. All of the meats are beautifully cooked. Loaded Mac and cheese is amazing! You can’t go wrong with the menu. Paul is very helpful, courteous and kind. It’s a BYOB, cool atmosphere and awesome music. If you want kickass smoked BBQ in NJ look no further!

A pizza review?! Yes!!! Paul and his family over the years always have the staple meats but add fun and interesting things to their bbq style. Now they are doing pizza. And after I ate it I was like why wasn’t this done sooner. We shared a 16” vodka sauce brisket pie. Zero flop, quality cheese that taste good and pulls apart nicely. The brisket of course superb but for me the crust with the added bbq sauce and/or hot honey!! There wasn’t a thing left on the pan. This place had really good food, everything was well seasoned and had unique flavors because of the Cuban spices. I had the brisket, burnt ends (pork belly), loaded yuca tots, five cheese mac, and the beans and rice. For the brisket we got nice slices where it was juicy and had some fat on it. Really like the Cuban flavors and the beans & rice was well seasoned, the mojo was really good to mix with the BBQ and vinegar sauces. I don't know why there are so many 1-star reviews saying the food was bland + disgusting, seems like hate posts because none of the food was bland (unless their food got better since they opened.) Finished a whole 1/2 lb. of brisket with all the other sides.

I am a proud born and raised Texan new to the area. We have been searching for good BBQ since arriving in December 2023. This place is absolutely delicious! The brisket was juicy and the flavor was amazing! The turkey, quite frankly, was some of the best turkey I've ever had. Juicy and savory with the perfect texture. I was skeptical about the yucca tots as I'm not a huge fan of yucca. I was so wrong! Those tots were crispy, airy and delicious! The Cuban beans and rice is another item I was unfamiliar with and man was it good! The potato salad is different than what we're used to in Texas but went perfectly with our meal.
