Visiting the North Arlington bar on Sunday May 5, 2019 for brunch, my date was caught off guard by the spiciness of the steaks of the Fajita she ordered. She is allergic to spicy food, but luckily caught it in time not to devour the food. When informing our waitress of the issue, she politely apologized and explained to my girlfriend that she was free to order something else from the menu. Upon receipt of our bill, my girlfriend noticed that the Fajita meal, which was not eaten and the plate removed by the waitress, was not removed from our list of charges. This is problematic for multiple reasons. Firstly, I fail to see why my girlfriend was presented with the option of ordering something else as a replacement for the plate she initially requested, if she was simply going to be charged for two plates when taking the waitress up on her offer to order something else. Secondly, as previously mentioned our issue was not with the waitress, but with the manager. Our waitress was nothing but understanding and informed us that her manager told her that “The Fajitas would not be removed and the spiciness of the Steaks is simply the way that their Fajitas are prepared there”. This dismissiveness response leads me to my third point. This level of carelessness from a manager is unacceptable and a piteous standard of customer service. If the manager has a firm policy on food returns, they should show some education and etiquette and inform his clientele themselves, not send the wait staff to deliver the house rules and the bad news that they as the manager refuse to. More to the point, considering that my girlfriend has allergies, and sent the food back, they should count their lucky stars that she caught the spiciness of the food in time to prevent ramifications that the establishment would have most certainly dealt with, implications of the class action variety. This particular point is damning if for no other reason than that the description of the Fajitas do not specify peppery seasoning or hot spices. As if this were not incriminating enough, where the Entrée choices are found, the “Fajitas” are listed exactly five menu items above an option listed as “Chipotle Pasta (Spicy!)”. I’m sure any attorney would classify that citation as a slam dunk. To reiterate, the Fajitas description does not detail spices, seasoning, or peppers and is listed above a food choice that not only identifies spiciness in its title but places an explanation point for added emphasis. This level of casual negligence is an abject fail. Fortunately for this manager, this establishment, and food chain, this experience that I am choosing not to make a stink over won’t blow up into a bigger potentially legal matter, however, I would strongly suggest at the bare minimum a conversation with the authority figure there before someone(s) gets cost their job and potentially their life given the lack of menu insight, and that potential customer acknowledge ahead of time what they’re getting into here. I shouldn’t have required reading to learn how a particular bar restaurant prepares its meals, a food establishment can afford to update its menu at the cost of a print job, not to mention some class by its management.

I had such a great experience at 1 Republik! From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was upbeat and welcoming. Juan, the owner, personally came by to check in on us — super friendly, down-to-earth, and clearly takes pride in his place. You can tell he genuinely cares about making sure everyone has a good time. Our server Alyssa was amazing — attentive without hovering, friendly, and on top of everything. She made great recommendations, kept our drinks full, and made the whole experience even better. The food came out fresh and flavorful, and the drinks were perfectly made. Between the great vibe, excellent service, and quality food, 1 Republik is easily one of my go-to spots now. Big thanks to Juan and Alyssa for making it such an enjoyable visit — definitely recommend!

Honestly I go here all the time and let me tell you last night was a disappointment. It was taco Tuesday all I wanted was 1 chicken, 1 pork and 1steak. The waitress comes out with 11 tacos. She didn’t explain that it’s an individual order that you can’t get one of each. She was arguing with me common scenes would have been like guys I’m sorry but it’s going to be a lot of tacos that it comes as 1 order of each not individual. A simple night of wanting to spend $20 turned out to a $54 tab. Annoyed 🤦🏽‍♀️🙄

Wth happened to 1 Republik? I understand change in management, but the new kitchen situation is embarrassing. Orders are all screwed up and the food has gone from very good to terrible. Just went on Taco Tuesday...Taco Tuesday...and waited almost an hour for mediocre chicken and beef tacos and sweet potato fries. Our order was obviously messed up because people who got there after us got their tacos first, and i got my fries after I finished the tacos. And when I say the tacos were mediocre, I mean pretty bad. Just dry meat and a couple of flakes of old cilantro. Another guy at the bar ordered the meatballs and some other stuff but apparently couldbt eat the meatballs cuz they were cold and the tacos werent his irder. I attempted to order one more order of 3 chicken tacos, but I gave up and left after almost another hour because they never came. Went the other day and ordered nachos that we used to love. Well, their "nachos" are now just tricolor tortilla chips with a couple of pieces of melted cheese on top, a couple of olives and tomatoes and small strips of romaine lettuce cut and laid on top. No jalapeños. I had to send them back and they returned with shredded cheese thrown on top. Not even melted. Horrible new kitchen staff. They all need to be replaced. I feel sorry for the bartenders. They are all great workers who hustle and make great drinks, but they have to spend time apologizing and making excuses for the new horrible cook and kitchen staff. Hopefully the new mngmnt will take this review under consideration and make some changes very soon or 1 Republik will be an afterthought for us. Sad to see this bar go...

This was my first time at 1 Republik but it definitely won’t be my last! It’s a nice, casual sports bar with great food, yummy drinks and amazing service! My friend and I ordered bruschetta to start. It was delicious! I then ordered the skirt steak which came with mashed potatoes and green beans (although I don’t recall seeing the green beans and saw a salad instead). The place was dark but with ambient lighting. That made it a little difficult for me to see my food but it didn’t stop me from completely tearing it up. The skirt steak was absolutely amazing! The mashed potatoes were so rich and creamy! I can’t remember what my friend had, she ordered a sandwich. But she said it was really good! The server was so sweet and was always checking on us but not in that annoying “Omg go away!” way. They brought us a free round of green tea shots which I thought was nice of them. They were so good too so we ordered a second round. The music was pretty loud so you almost had to scream your conversation but it was a Saturday night and they were pretty busy. People just kept pouring in as time went on. Literally minutes into my meal I said to my friend “we gotta come back!”. That's how great the food was! The music was great too! Definitely had me dancing at the table lol I can’t wait to go back. If you haven’t been there yet, trust me,...
