Disappointed with the Alexander Library Experience
I visited Aliante Library yesterday, and despite being packed, it was exceptionally clean, quiet, and well-maintained—even the restrooms were spotless. Unfortunately, my experience at Alexander Library today was the complete opposite.
From the moment I arrived, it was chaotic. A tutor was helping kids who were loudly cursing, being disrespectful, and completely disregarding any rules for the entire three hours I was there. Despite several staff members—at least seven I seen (just standing and talking to each other — in there office area none of them took action or seemed to be doing anything at all.
The overall cleanliness was terrible. The tables were dirty and left unwiped. There were homeless individuals scattered throughout the library, laying across chairs and furniture with all their belongings. When I took my daughter to the restroom, it was a complete disaster—human feces all over the toilets, no tissue or napkins, and an unbearable smell throughout the entire library. To make matters worse, there were homeless men lingering right outside the restroom, making it feel unsafe.
Security was nowhere near effective. The security lady sat there on her phone the entire time, showing no interest in monitoring the library. When I first arrived, I had to ask for a dirty table to be wiped off, and instead of cleaning it, a staff member simply handed me a single wipe as if it wasn’t their responsibility.
I would rate this library zero stars if I could. It’s clear that whoever is managing it is doing a terrible job, and immediate changes need to be made. If you're considering visiting, I strongly advise against it. I will not...
Read moreDo Not Go to This Library Worst Experience Ever! This is by far the worst library I have ever been to. If I could give it zero stars, I would. The staff is rude and completely unhelpful especially toward African Americans. It’s clear they do not care about providing a welcoming or professional environment. The noise level is out of control. Kids are running around, yelling, and being completely disruptive, yet the staff does nothing about it. This is supposed to be a library, but it feels more like a chaotic daycare. On top of that, the entire place is filthy. The tables are sticky with who knows what, and it’s obvious no one ever bothers to clean them. The bathrooms are even worse disgusting, dirty, and completely neglected. The outside isn’t any better. Homeless people are practically living around the park, and the smell inside the library is unbearable. I didn’t feel safe at all, and security was completely useless. Instead of doing their job, they just sit there, not monitoring anything. This library is a disaster, and I wouldn’t be surprised if it shuts down soon. Management needs to step in and completely turn this place around because right now, it is beyond unacceptable. I will NEVER come back. If you’re thinking about going here—DON’T....
Read moreI had been wandering around like I usually do to clear my mind. My guitar was dirty and the strings were worn and buzzing and a security guard, Bob, came along and offered me a pack of strings and a pick. I had delinquent fees for items i had lost and because of that, I had lost motivation to come thinking there wouldn't be anything I'm able to do. Thankfully, Bob and this guy Garrett helped me pay off my fees and He saw me through getting a start in the Job Corps section with Ms. Rosario Espinoza. She gave me a list of options that i could consider as far as employment and encouraged me to get my GED, as I'm a high school dropout. Now I have classes lined up for march and all i need to do is wait the little bit of time it'll take to take these classes and pass the exam so i can get a job. I'm looking into music and it's oddly coincidental that he'd help me with new strings for my guitar. The job will get more and better equipment so i can write more versatile music and have more fun doing it. I'm lucky to live so close by to helpful people who want to see me do better in life and I'm grateful...
