Camped out here this morning with my boyfriend for a new Pokémon drop. We were first in line and we were excited to be in and out and buy the packs we’ve been wanting. The woman with the glasses was working by herself, and only allowed two people in the store at a time (valid and understandable). Me and my boyfriend went in together and he bought his stuff first. As he was checking out, he was borderline harassed to sign up for a GameStop membership by the employee. I’ve worked retail and have had to sell credit cards before I get it, but the way the employee went about this was so rude and honestly unacceptable. The employee made a speech at the opening of the store to say that she will kick out anyone who makes her feel uncomfortable or is rude, and honestly we felt very uncomfortable by her persistent efforts to make us sign up for a membership. The initial pitch is okay, but she CONTINUED and persisted after my boyfriend said very clearly that he was not interested in the membership. She even went as far to ask why he did not want to sign up for it, and he said it’s because he just doesn’t shop at GameStop often. She then said “you’ve been here 3 times this year” and when my boyfriend did not respond, she said unprompted, “that trick doesn’t work on me.” My boyfriend felt very very uncomfortable and I was standing right beside him when this went down, so it also made me feel very weird. I must've had a really good experience when I went coz I rated it 4 stars. I know when I went to the one in Avon there was a really perky, helpful female cashier/employee that just completely made my experience. I wanted to go back just to hang out and have her talk to me and help me again. I'm not usually swayed by perky, happy females, but she really did it for me. --And I'm a fairly straight, married female!
