This is my go to place to get my asian grocery products. I get my sack of jasmine rice here which lasts me a year at most and stock up on frozen saba. I love that they have variety of asian items from filipino, chinese, japanese, thai, vietnamese, etc items. It's a relatively small store but it is packed with products that are practically what most people need in making asian cuisine and it has a wide selection of snacks, ramen noodles and drinks to satisfy one's craving. I was worried about visiting the store based on the reviews here but the owner who was an older gentleman was super kind and helpful. He even offered to assist in bringing my sack of rice to my car the two times I purchased a sack of rice there. I've been to the store 4 times and the 2 separate occasions where it was attended by the older owner, it was meet with extremely positive shopping experience for me. He gave me a little discount one time plus a treat to try on both occasions. I guess most of the comments are referring to the younger gentleman who I encountered the other 2 times I was there. Although he was not as warm as the older owner, he was not rude or mean to me as well. He just minded his own business which I don't see anything wrong with that and was even a little apologetic when their credit card system was having connectivity issues. Overall, I have a positive time shopping here and would definitely come back to support...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is a good store with a nice variety of fresh produce and groceries. Unfortunately, the young store attendant is rude and obnoxious beyond belief. I tried to be friendly to him, even though you can feel his hostility the moment you step into the store, because I liked shopping there, but that did not save me from verbal abuse. The last time I was there I went because I had to return an item I had bought the week before and discovered that it was expired and rancid. As soon as I told him about the return, he started yelling at me accusing me of lying, that he had no way of knowing that I bought the item there (I had a receipt showing the name of the store and the date of purchase), that there was nothing wrong with the item, "you can eat it" (the expiration date was printed on the back). I told him I was willing to exchange for one that was not expired to which he yelled "get it and get out of here." All the items of that kind on the shelf were also expired, so I picked something similar of the same price. I made the mistake of showing him that there were more expired items of the kind I purchased, which made him extra enraged, again yelling at me to get out and never come back. Indeed, i will never go back -- unfortunate, because it is...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy recent visit to Nee How Chinese Food Market was unfortunately overshadowed by the discourteous behavior of the young cashier on duty.
Arriving just five minutes before closing, I was confident in my ability to quickly make my purchase, as I knew exactly what I needed. However, upon entering, I was promptly confronted by the cashier who declared with a hostile tone, "It's Six O'clock. We're closed, leave now!" This abrupt dismissal, despite the unlocked door, lit OPEN sign, and clock still reading 5:55, was quite upsetting and disappointing.
While I understand stores have closing times, the lack of clear communication and the dismissive attitude left a negative impression. A simple "We're closing soon, can you grab what you need quickly?" would have been a much more welcoming approach. It is disheartening to feel rushed and unwelcome, especially when there is time remaining before the officially posted closing hour. Ensuring the clock and signage accurately reflect closing times would help avoid confusion for future customers.
Overall, while the selection at the store is decent, this extremely unpleasant experience at the hands of the cashier has left me...
