Very Disappointed by Valerie
My fiancée was a customer of this family owned store for a long time, therefore, last year, he bought from this store a diamond bracelet for my birthday. However, the bracelet was too big and I was afraid that I can easily loose it, so I wanted to make it shorter. On 12/15/24, we met with Valerie in the store to discuss the changes. We agreed to remove 2 pieces from the bracelet and make a pair of earrings from them. Also, I requested to add a safety clasp to the bracelet because the lock did not seem to be secure enough for me. On 12/22/24, a week later, we came to the store to try earrings and to pick up the bracelet, however the safety clasp was not added to the bracelet, even though we discussed it and it was noted on the ticket. I mentioned it again to Valerie and she promised to get it done by holidays. On 12/24/24, the store employee called me to let me know that my stuff is ready and I can come to pick it up. An hour later, I came to the store and I saw that the earrings were ready, but the clasp was not added to the bracelet even though we already told her twice about it. I asked Valerie why it was not done, but what really disappointed me is Valerie’s reaction – she came down on me saying that I make her nervous and I have this bracelet for over a year and they are very busy now. Also, her daughter told me that she heard my conversation with her mom, Valerie, last week and she said that she did not promise anything to me, she said ‘we will try’. Well, they made it as my fault, I was the one who is guilty. I understand, that it’s a busiest time of the year, and of course, mistakes happen, but they could simply apologize for the mistake, without blaming me, but it was easier to blame the customer.
My fiancée was their customer for many many years, he even ordered jewelry from Valerie’s father, and was very happy, but I guess with the time things changed, especially their customer service.
I just wanted to share my experience with...
Read moreWonderful local jeweler, with jewelry repair on-site. Exactly the kind of place you want to get to know for when you need something sparkly for a loved one or an existing piece repaired.
My story: I own a Citizen watch I've had for years. Recently the clasp on the band broke. I sent it to Citizen's repair facility, where I was told that a) they could not repair it, b) they did not carry replacements any longer, and c) they did not have any other band that could fit. (Really, Citizen?)
After getting the watch back unrepaired, I noticed Daniel's Jewelry on a trip to Carillon Square in Glenview, IL, and noted that their sign said "Repairs." I gave them a shot, and they did a great job (replaced the band entirely) and at a very reasonable price.
During my initial visit (a little before Christmas) I also thought I'd take a look around for maybe something as a gift for my wife.
They spent a great deal of time with me, showing me many different pieces (some of their own design) and answering questions. I ultimately settled on a diamond and ruby bracelet that it turns out my wife loves.
They are a multi-generational small business; my understanding is that one of the people who helped me on my first visit is the granddaughter (? great-granddaughter?) of the founder, and her mom is the current owner.
I really like this place. If you're looking for a high-quality jeweler, with a longstanding reputation and a small local business, consider Daniel's Jewelry in Glenview, IL.

Read moreI have been going to Daniel's for about 20 years based on my mother's recommendation. Valerie is amazing - so customer centric! When I am there to pick something up, I can hear her working with customers on designs, appraisals, and purchases and she really knows her stuff.
I primarily take my jewelry there for repairs of ANY kind (e.g., ring resizing, changing out clasps for larger sizes, replacing lost stones, checking and repairing prongs on rings, adding/moving charms on my gold charm bracelet, designing and creating bracelets from a long heirloom pearl strand, and even creating charms from a former bracelet to be given as gifts). They are incredibly reasonable and do a great job with EVERY repair.
I have also purchased a few pieces from Daniel's including two rings and a bracelet - all of which I love. They have GORGEOUS new and estate jewelry at a myriad of different price points. And although my purchases have been on the lower end of the price point spectrum, they always treat you like you are buying an Elizabeth Taylor diamond.
But most importantly to me, is trust. I am bringing in and leaving in their care highly sentimental and, in some cases, very valuable items for repairs. I trust Valerie IMPLICITLY.
