The store itself is great. With the exception of the very standoff-ish paint department staff, the sales personnel on the floor are exceptional, which is the only reason that I return for supplies. The reason for my low rating is partly the paint dept. staff, but mostly to warn others of a particular female cashier, whom I believe wore DG or DJ on her name tag, possibly mid 30s, with brunette hair. This individual is without a doubt the most rude, unprofessional, and disrespectful person in the store. She is always very short and condescending and blatantly sarcastic with customers. This is not just my opinion. I know a number of other handymen and contractors who feel the same. Many of them do as I have started to do...if the aforementioned cashier is the only one at the register, I place the items back on the shelf and find the same product at another hardware such as Lowes or Home Depot. I literally never allow her to wait on me and will leave the store or wait for a different cashier. I have also had to dispute charges on a few occasions because this same individual has double charged me for the same transactions. Her behavior leaves absolutely no room for misinterpretation. She doesn't want to work nor be there and she takes it out on unfortunate customers. The reason that I am leaving this review is this - I was there recently and although I refused to allow her to process my purchases, I witnessed her subjecting another customer to the same level of disrespect. Knowing that myself and other customers have had this experience with this individual, I feel that it would be in the best interest of Management to monitor her behavior around customers so that they can see it firsthand. You will find that your store is frequently losing money because of this...
Read moreThe staff is generally quite unpleasant. They seem unhappy. I purchased two gravity chairs. When I opened the box and took out the chairs, one side came apart (screw fell off and was missing. I figured I could find a way to fix it. Things happen. Then the same happened with the second gravity chair. I called the store and asked if I could exchange and have someone pick up broken and drop off new chairs. Lady was angry with me and said she never heard of two broken items in one purchase. I will have to wait until delivery was in my area. She took down my information and said she will call back in a few days. I said ok. I am patient and it was in Feb of March. No big deal.
I am 70 years old. I live a bit far from Glenview Ace. Actually it was my first visit and purchase there. I never heard from Ace Hardware in Glenview again. Now, in May, my husband and I had to go to our nearby Home Depot and figure out to fix it, which we did. I truly wanted to go back to that Ace, because it was large and had many items. I WILL NEVER RETURN. STAFF IS UNPLEASANT and therefore not...
Read moreEvery time I've come here, I've had a great experience! Associates are always on hand to help--usually they'll find you before you even know you need help, lol. I had a particularly wonderful experience with an employee here after having an exhausting time trying to figure out how to dispose of paint at the Home Depot. Home Depot, of course, led us on an hour-long wild goose chase, whereas the gentleman at Ace helped us resolve our predicament in a matter of minutes.
My only criticism, as someone with social anxiety, is that sometimes I've felt like employees were "hovering" after I said I didn't need help. Although, that could just be me and my weird brain! Haha. Other than that, these guys do a great job!
Oh!!! And the horse out in front! Mr. Horsey has always been a fave of mine to see when I drive by. I wave at him every time I pass by. And they sometimes dress him up for holidays!!...
