Oh Brendan, why are you this way? Are you a slum lord who doesn't like when he has to do his job and tenants raise issues? Are you just mean? Idk, either way good riddance and it is no wonder why all the tenants talk about "yeah the place is great, except for Brendan."
My experience: As of about 5 minutes ago, I am a former tenant of the Norwood Commerce Center/the WinSmith Mill Market. Here they offer basement rooms for music rehearsal spaces, awesome! I rented here for 1 year in the music rehearsal spaces. Here I was paying $400 per month for a basement concrete room, about 230sq ft. A few weeks ago, I reported that rainwater caused flooding in our room. This the second time this has happened to this building, and to this room specifically, for 2 different reasons. After about a week and a half and a follow up email, Brendan, the property manager responded saying "Please use this different email address (which was never previously provided) -- Our sump pump by the door in the band rooms has failed in the past yes that lead to flooding. Our maintenance guys check it during rainstorms and we have backup pumps on site if it does fail again. As far as water coming up from a drain in your unit I am unaware of that problem. I will need to look into it further."
I then asked for timelines to have this issues resolved. I reminded Brendan that I am a tenant, so would like to know when this stuff is going to be fixed. His response? "As I said before we need to look into this problem when we get a chance. We have major construction going on in 3 of our buildings here, I only have so many guys to spare. Comparing our buildings that are over 200 years old converted from a tannery to uhauls and apartments is not a reasonable comparison. If you want to swap great, if not feel free to vacate your space when your lease is up."
So hopefully Brendan's attitude about this situation is clear already. Nobody made you rent out a room that has flooding issues, and it is the tenant's duty to alert you of issues. Nobody made you take on so many construction projects that you've spread yourself too thin and now you can't support your tenants. This is mismanagement and egos flaring up unfortunately.
I then received an email from them saying "The Norwood Commerce Center would like to offer you an opportunity to extend your lease!" for one more year, in the same room, at the same cost. I asked if we could swap to a different room and have our price honored. Brendan said no, the price is going up for a different room (basically same size, just not a flood risk) I said that's disappointing, but OK, then Brendan said "We are actually all set renting out to you as a tenant. We are moving forward with our right to not renew you. You have until 08/31 to vacate the space."
So if you want your gear ruined and to deal with someone who has 0 de-escalation, issue resolution, or customer service skills, this is the place to be. If you want to be treated kindly, and to feel like when you report issues they will be fixed and not have the script flipped on you, maybe look elsewhere.
I then looked into our lease, which states that 30-day notice is required by either party to terminate a lease, otherwise it goes month to month. Something they didn't seem to remember. Their response? "Oh no another month of rent you really showed us! Needless to say you can use this email for your 30 day notice."
Good luck you, Brendan - I hope you...
Read moreWas looking for something similar to the grafton flea market, this came up. It's shops instead of rented tables with just a smorgasbord of stuff on the tables at cheap prices that you can haggle. Here, the shops are actual shops with shop prices. They had so much on shelves and tables, it was hard to see what I was looking at. So much was vying for my eyes all at once. A LOT of vintage old timey stuff which, although cool, dominated the merchandise of all the stores. I didn't really like it, but that's because it wasn't what I expected. Going in knowing what it is,...
Read moreThe BEST place to shop around. Everything is so creatively arranged. So much to see and beautiful aesthetics. The vendors running the shops and interacting with customers are super nice and you can tell they love what they do. Years ago the building owner had to renovate and update due to building requirements, and it’s an even more architecturally and aesthetically place to wander through! Christmas season is especially...
