What a great souvenir surprise! We purchased our photo at USS Bowfin Submarine Museum and a voucher for a free Pearl came with it! The line can get a little long for the jewelry stand, but it’s worth the wait. I was able to choose my oyster and the color of the Pearl is a surprise. There was no pressure to buy any jewelry settings, but the attendant was super helpful finding me a simple elegant necklace setting. I couldn’t say no to buying such a unique one of a kind souvenir.
There are four different types of pearls and you have no idea what type you’ll get. Which makes this super fun! They offer multiple types of jewelry settings for necklaces, ring, and earrings in various designs. All in premium quality metals: 14k yellow gold, white gold, and silver.
Besides receiving the free Pearl, this is not an inexpensive souvenir. The prices reflect the quality of the product but are on par with market value of the materials.
I went home with a white Pearl in a simple yellow gold necklace setting with a small diamond and a beautiful 18-inch yellow gold chain. I’m really excited to add this to my jewelry collection! Thank you for the...
Read moreI like pearls and consider myself knowledgeable about oysters and pearls. After disembarking from the USS bowfin and purchasing our photo/newspaper print out for $20, we received a coupon to pick a pearl for free. The price to pick a pearl without a coupon is $14.95. The oysters have a notch/triangle cut into them, which I suspect is how they plant a pearl into the oysters to guarantee "a quality pearl" each time. Pearls from an oyster are supposed to match the colour of the inside of the shell as both are coated with the oyster's lacquer. However, the inside of my oyster shell was white and it had a black pearl in it. Afterwards, the clerk offered to drill a hole into it so that it could be mounted in/on various jeweleries (sterling silver, gold, white gold, rose gold/earrings, rings, pendants) for me to purchase. You don't have to purchase it if you don't want to, and you don't have to have a hole drilled into your pearl. They can put it in a small plastic bag for you. Overall, this is definitely a tourist attraction (trap) but not really a good one. As my husband said to me, "you can get a pearl at...
Read moreHad a great day at Pearl Harbor and after visiting the Bowfin, we were able to visit the Pick A Pearl by Maui Divers Jewelry at a great location there. After picking 3 oysters, the pearls were beautiful, 1 black and 2 blue pearls. The care taken by the staff makes it fun and the selection of jewelry for the pearls is extensive and beautiful. I was able to get a birthday gift necklace for one, and one for me too. They always know what color jewelry will go best with the color of the Pearl you select. The quality is the best. I purchased jewelry many years prior while in Oahu and still have the pieces today and look as awesome as the day I bought them. Maui Divers Jewelry stands by their products and I highly recommend you stop by and consider getting a Pearl. A great memory of your visit, not only to Pearl Harbor, but to Oahu. Thanks again for a fun and...
