I recently stayed at the Villas at Turtle Bay and wanted to share my experience. Overall, I would rate it 3 stars.
From the moment we arrived, we encountered some inconveniences. The gate code to access the pool and beach was a lengthy 12-digit code, which became quite cumbersome whenever we wanted to go for a swim or take a walk by the beach. Speaking of the beach, it was unfortunately overcrowded during our stay.
One of the disappointments was the rental service. We planned to rent snorkel gear, but we were informed that rentals stopped at 4:00 PM. This was quite inconvenient considering sunset was still a few hours away at nearly 8:00 PM.
Another issue arose when our teenage children, aged 14 and 17, left the beach to go to the pool. They were required to enter the 12-digit gate code, and immediately someone approached them and insisted they needed an adult. It would have been helpful if this had been communicated to us beforehand. Moreover, they had to memorize the gate code in order to return to the beach and inform us. The staff's attitude in this situation was rude and unpleasant.
To add to the frustrations, one evening my son and I were enjoying the sunset and having a conversation on our balcony. Suddenly, a woman from below interrupted us and started yelling about my son leaving his towel on the balcony. It was just a momentary placement, and he still had his hand on it as we were standing there talking. This unexpected encounter was quite unsettling.
Overall, while the Villas at Turtle Bay had some inconveniences and encounters with rude staff, it still offered a decent experience. However, I personally will...
Read moreWe rented two villas and a studio (through Gina's Vacation Villas) for a large family group. Everyone in the group agreed that we could not have found a better place to stay in Oahu. The North Shore is quiet and laid back with natural beauty, many activities, farm stands and food trucks and very warm and friendly people. The villas have access to a beautiful protected swimming and snorkeling cove (we saw turtles and an array of reef fish) with an amazing beach, a quiet private well maintained pool and all of the wonderful and varied activities offered at Turtle Bay Resort. The villas provide a spacious homey environment (large living spaces, completely stocked kitchen, washer and dryer) and easy walking distance to TBR restaurants, bars, entertainment and recreational activities. It is a short easy drive to explore - Kahuku food trucks, Ted's Bakery, Haleiwa, Kualoa Ranch, Waimea Valley, as well as the absolutely amazing beaches that line the North Shore. Gina and family were very friendly and accommodating hosts. We rented ground floor units and access from the lanais was very convenient. Incredible views from the lanai and beautiful grounds. We loved the quiet pool and hot tub area with its shaded loungers for reading and napping. This became a convenient and lovely gathering place for the group in the late afternoon. We loved watching the sunset from The Point at the resort. We also enjoyed dinner at Roy's Beach House and Lei Lei's - all within a short and...
Read moreDo NOT stay at the Turtle Bay Villas, stay at the RESORT. Please save yourself. It’s a complete rip off compared to the Resort next door. It made my wife cry😢. Villa is a really misleading word. It’s really dinky it feels like a cheap apartment. There are really no amenities you don’t even have bottled water waiting for you just a huge old binder of rules. The whole complex feels super run down and cheap it’s just not good. The resort next door is amazing and perfect and there’s no reason to come over here if you don’t stay there. The biggest problem is their nightmare customer service. If you have a problem they do not answer their phone…my wife and I couldn’t reach them for 30 hours and when I finally did I was of course stern with them. Didn’t curse at them but I did mention legal options for the horrible experience thus far. No one WANTS to do that but we just feel helpless and have no other options. The rep Gina instantly played like she was the victim, weaseled her way into blaming us for not calling enough times, and screamed and shouted at me on the phone. I had to de-escalate when normally it’s the customer service rep who de-escalates. There was no sense of care, it was wild and borderline humorous how nasty she was being. My wife and I laughed when I hung up the phone. Within 2 minutes on the phone she called me a liar when I said I called and left voicemails AFTER I sent proof. Save yourselves there is no value here, the resort next...
