I'm a mom with 2 Littles and a husband who loves the beach. This place had some great waves not far from shore. Making sand castles was a bit harder than other beaches we've been to but it's doable! We saw plenty of people bring their own shade, but there were also some palm trees you could use as natural shade. Overall we ended up going from having a 2 hour beach trip planned to a 4 hour trip 😂 I'm sure if we brought more food we would've stayed here all day! I will say for parking we preferred across the street because it was next to the restroom and the little shower head to rinse off after the beach. Can't wait to come back!

Stunning beach. Can usually catch the sunset from any angle even in october where the sun sets more towards the south western side. Couple of things to note: A. be prepared to have time to walk far south down the beach to avoid crowds if you want to take scenic photos. Come with time. Sun sets around 6 pm hawaii time in october. B. Not a swimmer friendly beach. Dont expect to swim here with kids unless youre all surfers. The waves crash HARD. This is mostly a scenic beach.

Aptly named. Came here and watched a lovely sunset, and the cherry on top was seeing whales breaching offshore. It seems a lot of people had the same idea, as there was quite a crowd that showed up right around sunset, but I still managed to find a parking spot. It gets pretty windy and there is no protective reef offshore, so the waves pound the sand. It's not a good place to bring your toddlers. But it's a lovely place to watch the sun go down.
