I wasn't sure what to say in this review, so I will try my best to be fair & honest.
My appointment was scheduled at 4:30, and I arrived in time(early in fact) and had to wait 30 mins. So I finally sat down at 5, no biggie as there are restaurants nearby. Over the phone I had told the hairdresser that I would like to cover the few grey hairs that I have. I showed her a picture of the look I wanted to achieve, light balayage that would blend with my greys. The hairdresser, Tiffany, glanced at the picture and says she is able to do it, great. That was the end of the consultation, there were no other questions asked as she began to work on my hair...in hindsight I should've stopped her there and been MORE specific since she didn't really ask EXACTLY what I wanted in front etc....
However, she didn't present any swatches or colors which I found a little odd(in the past this is normally how I would choose the colors i want and the hairdresser let's me know what color/s possible in one session etc.) She begins processing my hair, and is VERY ROUGH! I have a VERY sensitive head/scalp and asked her to be more gentle, which she tries to be I guess? But eventually goes back to pulling, ouch :(
After my hair is done processing and she's finished RIPPING the foil out of my hair she tones it to an ash blonde, beautiful. BUT, the front of my hair (where my greys were) were COMPLETELY untouched :( on top of the the color near my roots is almost a dark rust red! I asked if the redness would wash out or fade and she said that was the intended color because my hair was so dark and she wanted it to blend well with the blonde????? What!? :'( I guess it KINDA made sense, but DARK RED??? It doesn't look right :(
I tried to go back the next day to remedy the the greys in front and she insists on letting them grow out before dying them, ok fine. She said she would dye them right then and there super quick if I REALLY wanted her too. But at this point, there are 3 other women sitting in chairs and only ONE hairdresser and an assistant/hairwasher? So there was no way it it would've been quick by any means and I had places to be.
I do not recommend this place for anyone with a sensitive head, or prone to migraines, etc. Not a relaxing visit, and I would recommend you be EXTREMELY SPECIFIC on what you want as there was no consultation or swatches shown, etc.
I'm currently looking for a different place to fix the mess in front and the red.
I am happy with the blonde of the balayage, and the cut.
Not happy with the lack of communication, and that I left with a headache from all the pulling and "raking" through my hair with the brush, OUCH! :( I expected more for the...
Read moreand a month before my wedding. I asked for no length off, long layers and curtain bangs. I never agreed to the length she said she wanted to cut. I said I do not care that the ends are damaged I will fix that in October when it no longer matters that my length is intact. I just want long layers at this time. She completely disregarded what I said and wanted and did what she wanted to do. She cut more than 4 inches from my hair and argued with me about its original length. As the person whose hair was chopped off, I think I would know how long it initially was. I could get over it if it was super blended and styled very well and like the picture I showed her but it doesn't. This is literally the worst and choppiest haircut I've ever had in my life. I really trusted the other reviews of this place and trusted my stylist to take care of me and listen to what I wanted. At this point it feels personal that she did this to my hair then blamed me after the fact. Truly devastated and do not recommend this place for cuts whatsoever. Don't risk it. Having someone argue with you that the hair is blended is mind blowing. I included a picture of what I asked for vs. what I received and what my hair originally...
Read moreI moved to Oakland two years ago, and Tiffany has never disappointed me with her talent for haircuts. This past weekend I also decided to get my hair colored for my wedding by Tiffany, a balayage style. I wanted a light ash color and wasn't sure what was possible because my hair was black. She gave me good advice, even when I wasn't sure what I wanted or know what's the right decisions. She was thoughtful and patient with me. Afterward, it turned out beautiful, but I told Tiffany I wanted to be lighter and to even out the orange due to my hair being black. She had me come in for another session, so she could make it lighter and even. After the second session, she even gave me treatment for my hair to take home. Tiffany is not only a professional, but she's talented at what she does, and she cares about her client's happiness. She's the best hair stylist I have had. Thank you for always giving it your best! Below are photos of...
