Garrett County Museum of Transportation — Attraction in Oakland

Two adults visited this small, free museum for a couple of hours in mid-June 2023 and thoroughly enjoyed it. It consists of two floors with the second currently under renovation and not open. The first floor has an interesting mix of items relating to transportation including restored vintage autos, a fire engine, buggies, bicycles, toys, tools, etc., with many informational placards. Disappointing we plan a trip to the Garrett County transportation museum for October 17, 2025. Their website says that it’s open on Saturday from 10 to 3. We arrive at noon and it’s closed so I called the phone number and the lady said yeah it closes for the season after some fall fest or something like that. This museum denotes the modes of transportation throughout the years from boats to cars to trains and is very well done the displays are thoughtful.
