My family and I were looking for a different experience for breakfast today that was not typical or "run of the mill." We did some geocaching in the area after checking out the farmers market and stopped into 206 Alder Bistro before going about our day. Immediately upon walking in, I took notice of the epoxy tables that were super cute and sparkly. Then the paintings on the wall and other decor. We were greeted by one of the owners who treated us like old friends and made us feel very comfortable in their space. The breakfast menu was simple and to the point and didn't have a bunch of confusing or overwhelming options. When the food came out it was far from simple and very delicious. We all ate off each other's plates as it was all so good. The jelly on my sons toast was amazing! He ordered the French toast and toast with jelly which was odd, but it's what he wanted and got. The chef came out to check on us too and make sure we were happy with our meals (even my sons odd choice). Upon leaving they thanked us for coming and wished us a great day, even though it was rainy and gross out. When walking back to the car, my daughter said, what a great small town feel! We will for sure be back to try the lunch and dinner options. Thanks ladies for...
Read moreTo be completely transparent, I was visiting from Portland, Oregon on a multi-state road trip and this was my one and only stop to knock the state of Maryland off my list. It made sense as my hotel in Pittsburgh that morning didn’t offer breakfast. I drove over 2 hours to get here, and it was another 2 hours to my next destination in West Virginia.
This place could have been a total dump and I would have remained positive about the experience, but as it turned out, I could not have picked a better restaurant to represent the western side of your beautiful state! Delicious local bagel with cream cheese, VERY fresh fruit, and the best quiche I’ve ever had from a restaurant (as a quiche enthusiast). It was asparagus and I will remember it forever. Both waitresses asked how I liked it, I know it was made with love!
I appreciated the clean bathroom after a long drive as well. I’d love to come back someday, especially after seeing the gorgeous surrounding scenery. Everyone I interacted with...
Read moreWe live just over an hour away from here and we love the deep creek area so much. So we decided to get married there. Just a courthouse wedding but it was special to us. Afterwards we went to get something to eat at this restaurant. From the moment we walked in, we couldn’t stop talking about how nice everyone was, how lovely the atmosphere was, and just the vibe of the place in general. It really was so nice. We had the large size French toast and the hot dog and they were absolutely phenomenal!! We paid and had a good laugh because they were so impressed my new husband ate the big size of the French toast 😂😂 as we were leaving we mentioned that we had just gotten married. Not only were they excited for us and supportive, they wouldn’t let us leave without giving us a gift. We were already planning on coming back but this just made it even better. If you’re on the fence about going, go. You will be so...
