I wish I could say I had a good experience here, but sadly, I cannot. the hubs and I went on a Monday (mid)morning, and they weren't very busy. waitress was pleasant, but slightly incompetent. we put our order in, and within ten minutes, our food was served. I had to remind the waitress about my home fries, which she admitted she forgot and promptly brought them out. what I was expecting to be a "Western omelet", was in fact a rare omelet with green peppers (and maybe 3 pieces of ham in the ¼ of the omelet I TRIED to eat). being disgusted because the eggs weren't fully cooked, I set my pretty much full plate to the side, and decided to attempt the home fries. at this point, the waitress comes back, ignores my mostly full plate of food I fairly obviously was not eating, and asked if we wanted more coffee, to wit I responded "please", but we never got that either. also, I couldn't eat the home fries, which tasted like they had been cooked at 5am, and kept in the warmer ever since. so I added that to my plate of food I wasn't eating. waitress came back and asked if we were ready to put in our to go order (I had told her upon arrival, I would be placing a to go order later in the meal), at which point I told her, "no. I've changed my mind, and I no longer want to place that order". the server never ONCE asked if everything was ok or why I wasn't eating my meal, or why I had a sudden change of mind about a to go order, and she never did bring us that coffee refill, just handed me my bill. the woman at the counter asked if everything was ok, and I told her simply "no", and when she asked what was wrong, I explained about my rare omelet; the server who was working my table overheard me, and said that I should've said something, so she could've "made it right". I'm at 25+ year veteran server; I know the drill, and I know good service from bad service. but to not be asked AT ALL if everything is ok, while standing above my plate of uneaten food, makes it painfully obvious to me, the server could care less; but to then be told that I should've said something? no thank you. i wasn't even offered a discount on the food I didn't eat. (subsequently, a Western omelet added home fries, a plate of French toast, and 2 coffees cost me 30$!!) the really sad part being, this is the 3rd chance I've given this place in the last 3 years (& I used to enjoy this place prior to my last 3 visits); 1st time, hair in my food, second time, food was edible, but I puked for days after, and now, third strike being the rare omelette and lack of caring on the employees part. I would give zero stars, if I could; do not recommend. go to Denny's, instead (& no, I'm not a huge fan of Denny's, either, but at least the food is cooked and the employees pretend to care about...
Read moreWant to start with- The food was absolutely delicious! Service is what was a huge turn-off. Our server ( I believe her shirt said Gracie?) was incredibly rude. We were greeted with "What do you want to drink?" No biggie. Maybe she was in a rush. Upon ordering we asked for a hoagie the way it comes (lettuce, tomato, mayo-per the menu) She asked "Everything on it?" We responded with "Just the way it is on the menu is fine" and we got the response "Well it also comes with peppers onions and mushrooms. It's been like that for like 3 years now" When we politely asked if it was possible to get the kids' meal (Microwavable mac & cheese) whenever it was ready instead of waiting for all the food, her response was "Do you not see the other people who have tickets ahead of you?" When our meal arrived, we each said "thank you" when she places our meal in front of us" We got zero response. She did not return to the table until she came to place our bill on the table and said "One check?" No refills, napkins, "How is everything?" Nothing. I want to restate that the food is delicious but the service will definitely ruin...
Read moreMy family and I stayed at the Oak Mar Motel when we were in town visiting my mother for an early Thanksgiving weekend. Stayed from Friday afternoon to Sunday morning. After returning key and checking out, we figured we'd grab a quick bite to eat before our 5 hour car ride back home. Immediately after walking into the diner, we were greeted with a cold and dirty look from an employee. We appeared to be the only people in the establishment with young children and this young girl didn't seem happy about that. When I overheard her snap at my husband for asking if it was ok to sit anywhere, I just told him we were leaving because I didn't want to give them our business. The treatment we received after being there for less than 2 minutes is crazy. It's a shame because our stay at the motel was great but I don't think we'll stay at the Oak Mar or dine in at the diner...
