North County Model Railroad Society — Attraction in Oceanside

My girlfriend and I stopped by on Sunday Sept. 7 2025. To our surprise their were 2 members of the local club at the facility. One gentleman was very willing to talk the other a bit more reserved, which is fine. They allowed us to come in and view the layouts and ask questions. I was impressed with the detail there members of into the displays. My understanding is that it took many people years to build the display representing different areas San Diego County, CA. I would love to visit again sometime. They are open on Saturday and Wednesdays. It's an impressive display. Thank you to the 2 gentleman for taking the time to talk with us. Sorry we didn't get your names. One of them told us his wife told him to go out and have fun with hobby that day, so he did. We enjoyed the time...

Amazing little place. The people here have done an amazing job putting this together. You can control the trains via a phone app. You can try it out and even become a member. The members are all very helpful and knowledgeable. My son with autism loves this place and we are considering a membership which will allow us to use our own train and control it. The membership is only $25 a month. The members are incredibly helpful and will walk you through everything. What a neat little place!!!!

Very important: look but...

We had an AMAZING time! The staff were fantastic, but Rick Keefer truly stole the show. He was incredibly welcoming, engaging, and patient, taking the time to answer all our questions. As the mastermind behind the scenes, very impressive wiring .

What's more, our kiddos had a blast too! Rick even gave them paper trainer piggy banks, which they loved. Be sure to sign the guest book and consider making a donation – the donation train sounds are a delightful touch!
