So I typically don't like to write negative reviews about local business but Larsen's Music has not returned my calls or followed up with me about faulty equipment I was sold. A couple of year ago I purchased a almost $400 a House of Troy LED piano lamp from Gilliam Music in Norman. Shortly after the power supply cord went bad. I tried to contact House of Troy to get it replaced, but I was told I had to go through The reseller. Gilliam Music instructed me to contact Larsen Music to get a replacement. I drove to Larsen to show the piano guru their and he said he knew exactly what I needed and that he would get it in a couple of weeks. I followed up over the following weeks and I was give excuse after excuse from I forgot to they could not get in touch with the manufacturer etc. I eventually got ahold of a lady there and she said she would get it taken care of and she never came through. I have even gone to the Norman store a number of times since and they have not followed through. We are frequent customers to Gilliam but this is wearing me out. I have tried buying generic adapters from radio shack, but they don't work right either. The thing that bothers me the most is that I purchased an expensive light, it worked for a couple months and then stopped, an I have gotten zero support from Gilliam or Larsen to resolve the problem. At one point I was fine purchasing a new power supply, but after being lied to and not followed up with I am pretty much done with this organization. I will most likely take my business to guitar center or amazon now. This is kind of a last ditch effort to get some help from Larsen.
Update:
Shortly after posting this I recieved a phone call that they would just swap out the light which they did. It was quick and simple. ...
Read moreI went to them some time back and they told me they would match the prices I found online. I wanted to buy my son a snare drum for Christmas because it was his first year of percussion at school and he loved it. I talked to his band teacher to find out what size, wood v. metal, etc. So I brought in the ad and the woman who greeted me asked the guy if they would match it. She told me that I should beware of the items I buy online (duh) but I checked into the company and they had great reviews online. It wasn't like I was buying from Ebay. Then the guy went into a spiel about me buying a drum set versus paying thousands of dollars to buy a marching drum - he told me the school would provide the marching drum set so unless he was going pro or if I was wanting to buy a drum set (not)...Essentially, he sold me on NOT buying that particular drum. Then the woman says she would sell me a used metal drum at around the same price that was all scuffed / scratched and kind of dusty. I said no and talked to the band teacher again and asked him if there would be a reason to buy him snare drums, if he'd be able to use them in other situations and he explained he could use them for practice and for competitions. Anyway, I wound up buying the model I found online and my son LOVES it and practices regularly on it. Glad I didn't buy the used one. Oh, and they will not ALWAYS match the prices online, so tell them you found X price online and if they can match it. Same goes for Gilliam Music in Norman...
Read moreI went to Larsen music to custom order a cannonball alto saxophone. Working with Chris on the order was wonderful. He was patient enough with me to hear all the details I wanted on my horn(i was very thorough as to wanted. My specifications went as far as the height of the palm key risers). He called the cannonball rep then and there to ensure the order was completed properly. He also had an exact price for it shortly after we spoke with the rep. Larsen also allows you to put a down payment on custom order saxophones. You don't have to pay the full price until receiving the horn. It does take 4-6 months to make a custom horn if they don't have all the material at the cannonball location in salt lake city. Absolutely worth it in my opinion! I couldn't be happier with my experience and cannot wait for my new horn to come in! If you're looking for anything music related, Larsen is the best store in Oklahoma to do it. I drove an hour one way trip. It was certainly worth the drive. Ill try to remember and edit this post with pictures of the saxophone as soon as...
