We came here to enjoy a surprise date my husband arranged. It was a candlelight concert playing Vivaldi. It was such a sweet night together. They have parking lots nearby for the Yale specifically, I always appreciate the stress of parking taken off my shoulders. He bought the tickets online through an app. We were greeted and there were no lights but candles. It was so romantic. We were escorted to our seating area, and my biggest complaint will be the seats. They were crammed in together so you were touching shoulders with other guests. And the seat backs were NOT comfortable to be on for 1 hour with no breaks. Man I cannot get over that detail. There are seat cushions but bring some heavy coat or something to drape over the chair back to save yourself. I really enjoyed the concert itself. The music was beautiful & no pictures were allowed until the last song to help prevent distractions. The quartet introduced themselves and each song they played. It felt really welcoming and the sound really filled the space. There is a bar for drinks but no food to my knowledge. Bathrooms are vibrant - the women's was all pink! Very clean. We came again a few weeks later for a catered event so they do rent out the space for parties or events. It was a great...
Read moreLovely event for a evening night out. Came to see Halloween candlelight concert. The venue was clean, staff was attentive. Selection of music was excellent and musicians were very talented. Even though this is a "old theatre" it has very few of the old elements left. Would of loved some of the original parts of building. But its nice and elegant and well taken care of. There is a bar which also serves non alcohol drinks, no food. Phones must be turned off/put in silence.
There is only one thing that is a major complait and you find this in other reviews. The chairs!! They are fancy folding chairs that are hard and uncomfortable! So bring a small pillow or a jacket so you can sit on.
On that note: this place is located in a not so safe location. There will be sketchy people around. I wish the city would restore this area to its former glory as the buildings left are beautiful & historic. (Fun fact, the building beside the liquor store used to be a morgue, halloween...
Read moreWe attended a Christmas Music/Nutcracker string quartet performance on a Wednesday evening at 8 p.m. The Yale was a lovely venue and we WOULD attend again for a similar event. The interior retained beautiful architectural details, clean bathrooms, and a small bar with basic cocktails, and limited beer and wine selection.
While we enjoyed the interior venue and didn't have issues finding parking, the neighborhood was not one that I'd want to walk around on my own (it reminded me of back home, TBH, and that isn't a recommendation.)
Arriving at the Yale there were multiple individuals circling intersections on bicycles (one of which who tailed my husband and I) and private security was in evidence at the theatre. Having said that, when the concert let out the street was flooded with people so walking back to our car was no issue and we didn't feel like we were constantly having to look over...
