Too loud for the prices. Did not have all the wines listed on the menu and was going to stick us a a bar table after a 45min wait. (Edit. If you want to go there. We were told you ran out of the wine.... You ran out of the appetizer that was ordered.... I had to keep flagging down the waiter for simple things like water and refills. So the service, food, hostess, and lack of heat in the building DID NOT live up to the prices charged.) The only reason I came to your location is because I recolcated be to the area. The Scotch Plains location is much better run, I have been there several to times and never experienced such problems. As far as getting people seated quickly, there were 15 open tables in your dinning room. We complained to your hostess that it was cold and loud. We were told all the open tables were reserved. We told the waited it was unacceptable to wait close to an hour for a bar seat where in most establishments bar seating is first come first serve for those not wanting to wait for a real table. So we told him we were looking leaving..... Within moments we were in the reserved seating dinning room. Were I would like to add tables remained open the entire leangth of my stay. So there you go. You could have just been apologetic and took the stance the CUSTOMER is always right, instead you took the stance of defending yourself. How much better would this have gone for you if you said "sir I am sorry you had a bad experiance, please come back for a complementary appetizer and let us show you time you should had with out establishment." This just shows poor customer service. That is why my review has gone from 2 stars to...
Read moreWe chose to sit outside it was a beautiful spring night. Our waitor was no where to be seen and as we waited we were attacked by mosquitos, but I can’t blame the establishment for mother nature so we asked to sit inside with no issue. It’s a nice looking restaurant and the wait staff is very friendly. We had the fried calamari to start which was perfectly cooked but that’s the only thing we would enjoyed. The french onion soup, my mother in law said was, OK. For entrees, we ordered sushi, the pan seared Tuna and the turkey burger. It’s safe to say that seafood is not their specialty which I can not blame them because it seems to be more of a steak and burger place. The sushi rice was over cooked and where there should have been raw fish there was more over cooked rice. Bland tasting and overpriced for the lack of fish as sushi places give you more for the same cost. The pan seared tuna was OK but it sat on what seemed to be an entire plate of mayonnaise covered in quinoa. The turkey burger, my mother in law said tasted funny. Again, probably not the best selections for this type of place but at least one out of the three meals should have been good. My plate did not show up (the pan seared tuna) to the table when everyone else got theirs. Our waiter was no where to be seen, 5 minutes later I had to ask the hostess for the where abouts of my meal. They did apologize and only charged me half price for my meal which honestly should be the regular price. It was not a great experience for our first time and we will most likely not return. If you do go, stay away from...
Read moreMy first time leaving a Google review for a restaurant. We went to Grillestone for Music Bingo tonight. It’s only 15-20 minutes from our house so we were hoping we found a nice place for a treat meal once a week or so. We left disappointed. Strike one- no Music Bingo. We later learned the bingo host had quit. But that happens - and we were seated and prepared for a great night out anyway. Our drinks were good and we ordered from both the Prix Fixe and the regular menu. That’s when things headed downhill. My girlfriend’s stuffed mushrooms came out…well, unstuffed. They were just mushrooms topped with a cream of spinach sauce. We asked the waitress about it and she apologized and headed back to the kitchen. The waitress returned and agreed they were supposed to be stuffed with sausage. She came back a few minutes later and apologized that they had run out of sausage. That didn’t seem to stop the kitchen from sending them out. Maybe they were hoping we wouldn’t notice the unstuffedness of the mushrooms. There wasn’t an offer to just get another appetizer (or even a more aptly named one.) Luckily a few minutes later someone brought out my girlfriends meal. It would have been better if my meal came out the same time, or even shortly after. I guess we weren’t expected to eat together. Our meals were ok, not great but maybe we made poor food choices (Chilean Sea Bass and Chicken Picatta.) We should have complained to the manager but it shouldn’t have taken a complaint for them to make changes. Overall a...
