When I was growing up this was called monkey Park... They sold peanut necklaces which was not very smart lol as a young boy I approach the monkeys with the peanut necklace The monkey thought it was a peanut he jerked that necklace off my neck and tried to pull me in there with him but all in all they were very sweet and it was a very important part of my life growing up it was awesome. It's funny how things come full circle while they no longer have the monkeys they do have a cool little train which I've never seen run and we just celebrated my grandbaby's birthday at this monkey park aka municipal Park so go have a good time and remember that this has been a generation to generation thing and also if you watch out for the snakes the creek is amazing to play in

Combined goals yesterday! Visited Municipal Park in Opelika, Alabama! Walked the Caroline Dean Wildflower Trail, to research native Alabama flora for our own future landscaping plans, walked covered bridge and got into nature. The Municipal Park was walked and admired. Lovely setting and nicely maintained. Had an old-school playground feel. Very clean except for some debris floating in the creek. Loved the humorous reminder against littering of any kind. Historical plaques aplenty, so we learned a lot! Great time. Wish there were more maintained interurban trails, or perhaps I need to work smarter to discover where they are. Thank you, Opelika!

"Monkey Park" is a very nice municipal park offering picnic facilities, well maintained garden trail and grounds and multible playgrounds for children. The park also has a wonderful 1955, 1:16 scale miniature train ride along the small brook. The trail also has special even rides including a Christmas light ride. Located at the park is a restored 1900 Covered Bridge moved and restored at this site from the old Salem Shotwell road.

Have been enjoying this wonderful park for years! My daughter enjoyed it when she was younger and they keep it clean and updated. The Rockybrook Rocket (train) is such a treat for the children when itβs running. It used to be called Monkey Park because live monkeys were there. A true treasure for the whole family to enjoy.

My husband & I went last night and it was very nice. Beautiful lights and loved the train ride. It only cost $1 each for our Hot chocolate & $1 each for the train ride. Very affordable. Santa was there taking pictures with the kids
