Nice establishment and I can tell they sell quality stuff, my purpose for this review is more about the experience. Came in with a friend today who is interested in trying skiing with me this season, my entire family has been skiers for years now so we already have plenty of gear for spare use/for others. We came inside and walked over to the fitting counter(?) and I had asked if they do sizing boots, gentlemen was polite and was right on it! He has asked if we were looking for anything in particular and I had responded with just looking to get her sized for now. This is where the interaction soured. Upon asking that and making my intention clear we were here at their store just to use the sizing equipment, the older gentleman at the counter replied rather quickly in quite a different tone to my question. What could have been a pleasant 5 to 10 minute visit and a positive interaction turned into a bunch of sales haggling and rude interactions with quite a few of the workers. I guess once the realize that you or someone you are with is just a beginner and looking to get sized (AKA no big sale!) the nice and polite inviting attitude leaves the door. Thanks for sizing my friend we both appreciate that for sure! Definitely don't think a beginner who is unsure of continuing the sport needs to be haggled down to purchase 250$ beginner boots! Worrying about rigidity and all other things, I completely understand but not for this application. Needless to say in the future we will be choosing a different store if she ends up enjoying her time out there on the slopes. If you are looking for something small and helpful this isn't the store for you apparently
EDIT:
The response given to this reads like a fairytale! Anyone looking to go here this review is still the most relevant is seems. Heard if you take your kids they have the tooth...
Read moreI placed an online order for a pair of deeply discounted skis last night. Although most places have price match guarantee, I thought it would be nice to support a small store rather than an online giant. This morning I received a notice of refund with no explanation as to why. I sent in a message asking why I was refunded. After an hour & a half with no response, I called. The person who answered advised me that it was canceled due to no stock & that they had been having this problem the whole season. They can't keep track of actual inventory. He offered to help me find another pair of skis, but didn't seem bothered by the fact that this apparently keeps happening to online customers. So now my money is tied up in refund process & I'm pretty annoyed. It's 2020 Aspen Ski & Board, you should be able to figure out how to sell online. Or just don't do it!
Edited to add: changing from 1 star review to 3 star review. I was just contacted by AJ at Aspen Ski & Board to try to resolve the issue. He offered some comparable skis at the same discounted price of my canceled order. He even offered to overnight them. I did not take him up on it because the sizing was slightly off from what I tried to purchase yesterday & I had already placed an order for the skis I wanted through another shop (unfortunately at a higher price). AJ also explained the inventory issue as a problem in Google's software. I understand that, but also other ski shops don't seem to have the same problem (maybe my other ski order will get canceled due to no stock & I'll have to eat those words). ASB does seem to have extremely low prices, that's what made me place my initial order. But be warned that this could happen to you. I would recommend calling them to place order if you find something you like in a price that...
Read moreBought a new set of skis, boots, bindings, and poles. Picked up on 12/26/23, and one of the boot buckles broke on 1/1/4 not even a week later. Boots had a two year warranty from Salomon, but Aspen refused to warranty. Salesman said he would put old Nordica buckle on and that was the best they would offer. Took the boots to REI ski shop and they said it was clearly covered under warranty. Sad that Aspen will not warranty what they sell. Plastic was broke around buckle anchor point. Clearly not repairable, let alone with butchered parts from another manufacture. Shocked a ski shop would try and send someone out the door in unsafe equipment.
Salomon's Warranty Policy: "The certified technician at your Salomon dealer will be able to inspect your equipment and assist with repairs and adjustments. In most cases, Salomon does not require authorized dealers to physically return products for war-ranty evaluation which allows authorized dealers to offer the fastest resolution to your warranty claim. In the event that Salomon is not able to repair or replace your product, Salomon is not able to of-fer a refund for products purchased from dealer. Only the authorized Salomon dealer where you purchased your product can offer a refund."
Owner's response to my review is disappointing. Instead of resolving issue, Aspen attacks customer with insults. Aspen attacks competition REI, an approved dealer. Telling me to go somewhere else is an example of their lack of customer service. Salomon require you to go through dealer purchased from. Never did employee say this was a temp fix, he absolutely said Salomon would not warranty. A reputable dealer would have offered a demo or rental set of boots...
