If you're looking for an amazing cut and color, schedule an appointment with Lisa Frehner!
A little background, I went to hair school 10 years ago and convinced myself that I could get great results doing my own hair.... and for 7 years I suffered with mediocre hair that I was never really happy with. I'd either put it in a ponytail or a bun every day to try to hide the bad dye jobs and haircuts. I also have a mother-in-law and sister-in-law that did my hair occasionally but my hair was always fried afterward because they didn't have additional experience or training doing ombre and balayage techniques. Even though they gave me a family discount, it wasn't worth it.
After meeting Lisa and having a few friends refer her, I decided to take a leap of faith. By the time I went to her, the top half of my hair was almost black and the bottom half was fried from bad ombre attempts. My hair was down to my butt and I was ready to chop it off. Thankfully Lisa saved it and gave it a whole new life. A good cut and color and I feel like a totally new woman. I used to never wear my hair down and now I wear it down 4-5 days a week. I get so many compliments on it from friends and strangers. I've since moved to Vegas but I'm still coming up with excuses to go to Utah every 6 weeks so I can get my hair done by Lisa.
Pros: Lisa is very experienced with a variety of hair types and I love that she knows exactly what type of cut and products will work best with my wavy/frizzy hair Lisa is great at very classic, natural colors as well as fun and trendy hair colors The salon is very clean and everyone is super friendly, especially the owner, Mike. Lisa's rates are great for the quality of work she does. The only other cut I've loved this much cost twice as much at a high-end salon in SLC, and Lisa does a better job!
Cons: Get on her calendar early and always, ALWAYS schedule your next appointment before you leave the salon. She saves a few spots for last minute appointments but if it's a weekend I have to make sure to schedule early. The products she sells are awesome but I can't get them at Walmart, so if I run out between appointments I have to wait until I get back to Utah... but that's only a con if you live...
Read moreI initially went in for a highlight/color and trim. The girl who did my hair did not do a test strand, was not very careful about the highlighting, and turned half of my hair green - in the middle section. I have a lot of long, thick hair and it does take time, but the top 6" processed fine while the bottom half to about 2" of the tips went a shade of gray-green. The ends didn't process. She didn't mention a thing until she had spent 3 hours doing a FULL highlight and pulled the developer off and dried my hair. I was so disappointed and asked her to just turn my hair back to it's original color (which is a medium-dark golden brown.) My hair went one shade above BLACK. By that time, I was upset, it was late (11:30 pm), and I went home without having her trim my hair. When I got home, I realized she hadn't completely cleaned the dye off my skin. I had dye in my eyebrows, ears and across my hairline into my face. I had to use lemon to remove the color it had stained on my skin. The next morning, I rinsed my hair and the water ran dark brown from color that was still on the hair. I checked the receipt and realized that she had charged me for a full color, highlight, TRIM, BLOWDRY, STYLE - everything! I contacted the Salon owner and I have requested a refund (still waiting to hear back.) I have never had such a bad experience with my hair. *UPDATE - the Manager contacted me back and offered a full refund and if I wanted my hair fixed, he offered to have one of his experienced stylists fix it for free... I'm not sure if I will go back yet, but I greatly appreciate his offer to make things right. Be very careful of what...
Read moreI hate having to write this but feel that I need to warn others. I had beautiful healthy hair before coming to this salon. I told my stylist that I like to keep my roots dark and lighten some curls throughout. I wanted a blended look without noticable grow out because I only like to color my hair once a year. My hair is now damaged and dishwasher blonde all over. 75% of my hair was virgin. Now it snarls when wet, every single hair has a split end, and the bottom couple inches breaks off when touched. It won't curl anymore because curls need moisture. It's just dry and frizzy. I emailed the owner and got zero response from him. He simply forwarded my email to the stylist that ruined my hair. She texted me and said I could come pick up some deep conditioner. I did, it did nothing. I have now spent over $160 on products trying to repair my hair after spending almost $250 at the salon. And if I can ever get it back to even half-way healthy, I will have to pay to color it again. The salon took zero accountability, no apology, no offer to do any treatments in the salon to help fix the condition or color of my hair, no offer of a refund. Nothing. Before picture taken 2 days before appt. After picture taken after 1 protien treatment and 3 deep...
