This Hobby Lobby is a big store with many items, it always has what I’m looking for. My review is not directed towards the store… it is directed towards the employees. I asked an older lady named Victoria to help me find a specific item that I needed help locating (since the store is so huge), her whole demeanor was extremely rude and unwelcoming, she kept having rude remarks under her breath, and would sigh visibly and loudly. I’m not sure if she knew she was being rude, or I’m not sure if she does it on purpose but she quite frankly made me feel dumb for not knowing where the item was.
I came back about two weeks later, looking for home decor to gift for Christmas. A round, shorter lady named Emily was so unhelpful and rolled her eyes at me in such a condescending manner. I’m not sure if I was stopping her in the middle of her job… but her job as an employee is to also help customers, so taking a few seconds out of whatever she was doing should not have been as big of a deal as she made it seem. I felt so unwelcome and in complete shock.
I also saw Victoria AGAIN disrespecting her fellow employees and it broke my heart. She was yelling at them saying “Who did this?! Who did this?!” and making snide comments, completely disregarding any sense of teamwork or professionalism. It was so disheartening to witness such toxic behavior in a workplace. I don’t understand how companies don’t pick up on these behaviors, I thought big corporations' memo was “everyone is replaceable”? Are they that in need of workers that they need to keep miserable, rude, disrespectful employees? It seems like the management is either oblivious or careless to the negative environment these employees are creating. It's absolutely unacceptable and makes me question the overall integrity and standards of this store. I wish there was a 0 star option, I have never met more rude and unprofessional employees...
Read moreIt's disappointing that I am writing this review because in reality, Hobby Lobby is my favorite store. But this particular one disappointed me today. It's not the regular one I go to, but it was the closest one to where I was at the time. If I was a mystery shopper, they would have failed miserably.
First, nobody greeted me when I walked in at all. Second, when I could not locate the specific product I was looking for, I asked for help. I had to get an employees attention 3 times. On the third try, she said hi and then she went right back to stocking. So I asked a head full of hair where this product was. She pointed to the general area where I would find it and sent me on my way.
I searched for another 20 minutes. There were employees EVERYWHERE because I'm assuming they were restocking the shelves. I spoke out loud next to each one that I need help because I can't find it... not ONE of them turned to me and asked if they can help. And there were quite a few of them there. I KNOW they heard me because one in particular looked annoyed when I spoke.
Were they told by management to ignore customers that day? Was that particular store not trained in the ways of customer service? Not sure, but I left the store very disappointed. I ended up borrowing what I needed from the Museum of Art. I may try this store again, because like I said originally, Hobby Lobby is my favorite store, but I will be expecting much better customer service than what I recieved today at...
Read moreI am having a small destination wedding in October. Because hotels tend to overcharge for decorations, I ended up painstakingly and meticulously planning and gathering my decorations over the course of several months, only to find out that I wouldn’t be allowed to pay for additional baggage past my two bags when boarding the airplane. With FedEx charging me over $400 to ship my decorations, it made no sense to take my decorations with me. When I tell you I had enough decorations to completely cover a six- person dining room table, believe it. I dreaded the thought of becoming that person with the huge returns holding up the line and dealing with countless eye- rolls and hushed comments. Vicky, with the patience of what I can only describe as a saint, NEVER ONCE made me feel ashamed or like I was a burden. With so much understanding and diligence, she returned item by item, which had to be found throughout four receipts. This woman is gold; absolute GOLD in customer service. I will be following up with corporate to make sure she gets some sort of recognition for how she made such a daunting and sad (for me) task, a breeze. Thank you Vicky. I mean it. I know you just said that you were “doing your job”, but may God bless you in ways you never imagined possible. Thank you!!!!!! Hobby Lobby...
