This was my first time biking on the Shingle Creek Regional Trail. Did you know..? You can stand right above the ACTUAL headwaters of The Everglades National Park, right here on Shingle Creek Regional Trail?! My whole Florida life, all I ever heard and was taught is that the Kissimmee chain of lakes was the start. That is not true...it starts here in South Orange County at Shingle Creek! Isn't that cool? I think so. It is well protected now, as it should be. The Trail eventually will follow the creek south, but Osceola County isn't there yet.
Super fun Geo-caching opportunities. Gators, turkeys, egrets, beautiful flowers blooming, shining waters and the lovely sunset to boot. A lot of homeless folks gather towards sunset, not all were nice!

Read moreThe posted address takes you to an office building / commercial building. There is no access to the trail from the parking lot which is surrounded by a metal fence. You have to walk up the road, and then cut across on Sand Lake Road to get to the trail entrance. We didn't walk too far along the trail because we were worried about leaving our car in an office building's lot. But there really isn’t much wildlife on it. Only saw one Ibis. It backs up to a lot of warehouses. It was hard to find a place to park to get on where it begins on Sand Lake Road.
