I was just getting back on my feet from being sick for years from chronic lyme disease. Due to that reason I was always borderline having my funds taken away during my AA degree. Finally I am diagnosed and start treatment and starting to feel good enough to take on school again to get my BA. I still had to fight for my financial aid due to my history while getting my AA. At this time hurricane Irma came thru shut down my power for over a week, internet for 2 weeks, no gas for my car for a week, etc. I ended up having to drop my class cause it took 2 weeks for me to go back to class. I explained this to financial aid and they didnt care; they completely stopped all funds permanently. So we were literally in the middle of a state of emergency and they could care less. This isn't my first problem w/ them. They didnt wanna give me a science credit and wanted it to be an elective (for AA prereq). Also, they had my transcript that said I fulfilled my foreign language but still required me to do a foriegn language. so I attempted several times to take spanish (during my serious time of sickness & I couldnt do it). I literally had to fight to get my AA for years. I disputed it 3x until they finally gave it to me. I have had nothing but problems w/ this school! Also, to top it off they use a bank to send out financial aid checks thru and all they do is steal ur money and charge u fees on government money. Banks that have class action suits against them for...
Read moreFirst off... The teachers and administrators were welcoming and hands on with my enrollment. The main issue I experienced is the Financial Aid administrator, who happens to be the leader of that department and reviewer for applications. I sent her ALL of the documents required to complete my application, however I made a mistake on answering one of the questions wrong, in which one of the assistants informed me that they could easily go into the system and manually change the single question. The representatives from the FAFSA department informed me as well of them being able to do this, but when I called the school she told me that even if I sent the second page of the document again (because they didn't get it the first time) she still need me to file an amended return, which could take 16 weeks!! SMH... Mind you this enrollment process have been going on since January and this whole time she's given me the run around EVEN though I would act immediately in ALL of their responses. It went from me being able to start May 10 to June 27 to who knows when, mind you these are issues that were out of my hand!! Moral of the story, I will be returning to FSCJ to continue my education and even though she was the only representative I had a problem with I still wouldn't recommend anyone (ESPECIALLY FRESH HS GRADUATES) to pursue ANY programs at this institution. If you are local just...
Read moreIf I could give a zero I would. RUN FAST!!!! FAR AWAY!!!! SJRSTATE is the worst college I have ever experienced. If you stand up for yourself against staff or faculty even if you know they are wrong they will label you. You will be labeled in the college system. You will be mistreated by all staff and faculty. You will not be accepted in any programs even if you have a 4.0 GPA. They pride themselves into being a school who doesn't have any violence on campus (if thats what they call it). Because if you even attempt to refute a bad grade you know you didn't deserve you will be labeled as violent and they will secretly ban you from all programs and activities. Professors are rude and unjust and if you complain you will be labeled as violent. BLACKBALLED at its best. DO NOT GO TO THIS COLLEGE BECAUSE THEY SET YOU UP TO FAIL!!!!. PSS.....Watch how they come back with staff and faculty giving good reviews. Don't believe any good reviews. You have...
