EDIT: I have visited a few times since the original review, and standby the star rating. Last night I had the cheeseburger and fries. The fries were okay, nothing special. You're not going to come here for the fries, not their best side. And the burger didn't look all that distinguished although everything that should have been there was there and everything was fresh. This would have been an average Burger anywhere else. What elevated the meal was the quality of the beef patty, which was absolutely delicious. Toasted buns would have made it even better.
Five stars for a really excellent country restaurant. But warning for the evening meal: the later you get there after 4:30 p.m., the more likely you're going to have to wait a while. This place is really famous and really sought for good reason and it's a destination restaurant, drawing people from further out than you might think.
For the evening meal, you get a complimentary cup of vegetable soup, which is really good. I have only had the shrimp, grilled and fried, and the 7 oz steak. All were perfectly cooked and very tasty, and the juices from the steak were just astonishing. This was a simple strip steak not much more than a half inch thick, but perfectly cooked to medium and super tasty. I've had steaks in some of the finest steakhouses in america, and this steak would know no shame in any of those great places.
The sides are really tasty, excellently (is that a word?) prepared and I especially recommend the fried eggplant. Yes you heard me, fried eggplant. The hush puppies are kind of tiny but they do taste really good. The iced tea was also wonderful. This restaurant really just does not miss a lick.
I'm fairly new to palatka and have no connection to this restaurant except for stuffing myself there every chance I get....
Read moreWe have always had great service at Bradley's on the weekend. Our service was always fast, friendly, and efficient. This was our first time there through the week. (12/23/22 @5:00pm.) My husband and I ordered the fisherman's platter for two which included fish, shrimp, oysters, scallops and clams. It also came with choice of 4 sides. When we received our salad the we noticed our salad was bad. The lettuce was brown, yellow, and slimy. I noticed it also had a not so fresh smell to it. My husband and I immediately pushed the salads aside to be picked up from the table. After about 10 minutes the waitress came by and we explained to (and showed) the waitress that our salads were bad. She was unapologetic as she silently took the salads away and did not return with fresh salad or an alternate side. After we received our meal and began to eat I actually had to ask for an alternate side. We received an order of fried okra. Our order of fried green tomatoes were four, hard, undercooked wedges of fried tomato. The side of eggplant consisted of two silver dollar sized slices of fried eggplant. I believe if we return it will most likely be on the weekend because although our main course was good our sides and table service were...
Read moreHad dinner for the first time at Bradley's on a busy Friday night. It was very crowded but our wait was less than 30 minutes. Service was very good. Our food came quickly and the wait staff was very attentive throughout dinner.
I had a cup of the yuumy oyster stew which brought back childhood memories of the stew my dad used to fix. I had fried catfish filets which were perfectly fried and tasty. The cheese grits were very good. I also had a crab cake which was good but not special.
My wife had the fried clam strips and shrimp. Neither were worth bragging about. We suspected the shrimp were frozen since they weren't very flavorful. If you want good fried shrimp there are better options in Palatka.
Our guest had the steak which was under cooked. Our waitress quickly took it back to the kitchen for more time on the grill. Her fried green tomato was perfectly fried. It was moist and flavorful.
We will go back to Bradley's and are eager to try their...
