Etiquette Boutique — Attraction in Palm Beach Gardens

Terrible customer service experience. I saw a cute top on the mannequin while passing by this store (Etiquette Boutique in Palm Beach Gardens) and decided to look inside. The blonde employee (unsure of her name) did not greet me when I came in. When I asked to try on the top, she pointed to the back of the store and brushed me off. I continued to look around, when she came up to me and asked what size I needed. I asked for a small and she looked at me confused and questioned “are you SURE you need a small?” then proceeded to put a small and a medium in the fitting room “just incase”. While in the fitting room, I overheard her greeting a new customer and asked if she wanted a water or an espresso, which I was never offered. For reference, I am a young mixed/black woman. Take that information as you will. I felt prejudice the second I walked in and received unequal treatment in this boutique. I unfortunately did not purchase the top I liked because of this, and took my business elsewhere. She didn’t follow up to ask how the top fit or offer any additional assistance as she did with others, as if I wasn’t a true, valuable customer. Immediately upon entering the store I was greeted with exceptional customer service, asking if I would like a bottle of water or an espresso. Both of the females in the store were attentive and friendly, offering to put the items in my hands in a fitting room and asking if I needed any help. While they were attentive, they were not "pushy" salespeople which is a huge plus for someone like me. The store itself has a lot of great clothing options at reasonable boutique prices. I appreciate that the tags on majority of the items state "try me on" and "i'm not returnable". This made it clear that the store had a policy about returns. I also love that they do a 10% back promo where you get 10% back of your sale in a dollar amount to be used for a future purchase. Keep in mind - those "points" if you will, can only be used within 2 weeks. Great way to get you back in and shopping, plus, they get shipments of new items twice a week. I had a very pleasant experience at this store. I was greeted immediately upon entering and offered a water, which was a very polite and welcoming gesture. In addition to the friendly service, I was able to find some great items. I purchased a cute necklace that was displayed on one of the mannequins, and I absolutely love it. I also got a bracelet, which wasn't quite the right size for my wrist, but I was able to adjust it to fit me comfortably when I got home. Overall, it was a wonderful shopping trip.
