Overall fine experience. Did a couples massage and the ladies were polite and attentive. The room needs a place for customers to put their clothing and jewelry. I ended up putting my stuff on the floor. Also, this was my husband's first massage experience and he needed more direction about undressing and getting under the sheets. For my massage, I found the pressure put over my bony parts to be very painful but the masseuse was responsive when i asked for her to adjust her technique.
I hesitated to post this next piece but think it's an important part of our experience. My husband paid for the massage. Being his first massage, he didn't know that tipping was generally good practice. He paid $150 for an hour couples massage which is a steal. I didn't realize he didn't tip so as we were in the parking lot, putting our motorcycle helmets on, the front desk lady came running outside saying "excuse me!! You forgot to tip the girls!!". We were both very embarrassed. He didn't know to tip and I dont make it a practice to hover over his shoulder as he signs receipts. This got yelled out in the wide open parking lot. A more discrete way to encourage tipping would've been more appreciated and appropriate. Unfortunately, they probably thought he was simply cheap as opposed to not knowing and now he's likely going to be bashful about going back to a masseuse. I recognize as a small business you have expenses and cutting into your bottom line makes it difficult to turn a profit or even make ends meat. Read moreI received a gift card for Massage Haven in PBG and scheduled a 1 hour deep tissue masage. I explained to the therapist my ares of concern as they requested on the form you fill out upon arrival. The actual massage session was maybe 40 minutes and 90% of it was given while the therapist sat on a stool with wheels. I told the therapist I paid for a deep tissue massage, and this barely feels like a swedish massage. They replied " your muscles are to tight I cant go any harder". As for my areas of concern (shoulder & ankle) I was told to see a specialist and no extra time was spent massaging either area. Isn't this why you get a massage to relax and loosen up your tight muscles? After I thought about my terrible experience during my drive home I felt it necessary to call the spa. I was told they have great reviews and they will speak to the therapist. This doesnt slove the problem. Currently Im waiting for a manager to call me back but I was told it probably wont be until the end of next week, I have no idea why it would take so long for a phone call. I woke up this morning and decided to splurge and get a hot stone massage for my birthday. I did not have an appointment and called at about 10:30am. The man who answered the phone (who I have met before) did not have a therapist available at the time I requested so he was going to call someone at home and see if they would come in early. Within about 20 minutes he called me back and had made the arrangements for me. I the massage itself was beyond perfect. It was the kind of massage that when it ended every muscle in my body was completely relaxed, I did not was it to end. It was euphoric. The reason my experience got 4 stars instead of 5 is because of one of my massage pet peeves. Throughout the massage anytime the front door of the establishment opened the "chime" from the alarm went off right outside my treatment room. I understand there may be times the front desk is unattended, but it totally interfered with the tranquil setting they work so hard to achieve.
