This is an upscale store with no bargains. You can find hard to find connoisseur items and extremely expensive spirits and wine. If you're looking for affordable meat or a condiments this is not your place. However if you're looking for hard to find items this is the place. They have a superior deli and a super friendly cashier guy that makes your day. There's nobody in the wine and spirit section to help you unless you track them down all over the store. So I know by my way across the street at desert wine shop. I like to buy my wine and spirits from somebody that really knows the product. I did find fresh basil here at twice the cost and half the size of trader Joe's. If I was this store I would try to pepper more bargains around the store that are comparable to more affordable markets. The store baby reminds me of Whole Foods. I was not that impressed with the bakery people. They were not helpful. When you have a high-end store like this SERVICE must be excellent, accessible, friendly, and knowledgeable. A frequent a super high-end store and Newport Beach called high times, which is famous for their huge wine cellar and gourmet foods and cigars. The service there is usually amazing. I wish it was here because we live by here, but it seems that management nowadays is preoccupied with stocking, pricing, and acting important, as opposed to customer service. It's a trend at high-end grocery stores I've seen throughout Southern California. The best service seems to come from discount stores that do huge volume. The wines and spirits here are overpriced compared to all other stores. I'm not talking about the high end top shelf stuff. I'm talking about things like a Justin cab that's 10% higher here than anywhere else. However you can find a chateau montelena chardonnay here. I wish the Italian wines and French wines were a little better. Overall it's a gorgeous relaxing store without a bunch of huge crowd fighting over the...
Read moreWow! Not coming back here anymore. I don't know if they have a new manager or staff but this place has changed. I ordered a Santa Rosa sandwich with roast beef and potato salad like usual. It was strange but I was asked how large of a container I wanted. I said just a scoop in the box like always. I was told that the salads were weighed separately. I thought she misunderstood me as wanting extra potato salad so I said skip it then. I waited for my order. I was handed this solitary sandwich. No pickle. No aforementioned salad. I thought to myself maybe they don't do the meals anymore or you now have to buy an entire package with a drink. The price was the same as before. So I just paid and went out to the car. The pictures show the almost vegan...
Read moreI ordered a chocolate cake from the bakery, and asked for chocolate whipped cream frosting inside and outside of cake, instead of regular buttercream. They did a great job. The cake was affordable ($19.99), but was on the petite side. But it served the 5 guests we had. I would order again. I normally can't shop in their store due to the prices. The are one of the two most expensive grocery stores in the Palm Desert area. They used to be renowned for their meat department and it was the only place my Grandmother would shop. Palm Desert sure has changed since I...
