The hall is beautiful but we got none of what we were promised during booking. We booked the hall in March and at time of booking there was a refrigerator and we were told there would be crew members cleaning throughout the event and a bartender. The day of our event we arrived with all our desserts and discovered there was no place to store them. Per the owner the fridge had been gone for a while however I was never notified during the 3 other times I met with him prior to our event. The owner called to the restaurant across the street who luckily allowed us to store our cake and some of the desserts in their kitchen but by that time half of the desserts were melted.
We contacted the owner again before the event started to ask about the crew that was supposed to come and work the event. The owner said they were supposed to be there 30 mins ago. No one ever showed up to help clean or move tables like we were promised. Instead one bartender from the restaurant across the street came over and did his best to work the bar and help my husband and I move tables. We couldn’t find the step to place in front of the stage which really set our timeline back. The owner arrived during the last hour of our event and started clean up. Not once did the owner offer an apology which is really all we wanted. We never asked for money back, we had already paid in full and judging from the owner’s attitude we knew we wouldn’t get anything back. Instead we got a “ you got a place to store your desserts didn’t you? Most halls don’t come with a fridge” which is not true we looked a number of halls prior to this one that all provided fridges. The reason we chose this hall was because of the clean up service and the ability to bring your own food and drinks. The event went on and we made it through but not without the added stress of trying to manage things we were told would be handled. The owner was quite unapologetic.
We wouldn’t have had a problem with having guests clean up as they went which is what happened anyway but it would have been nice to know ahead of time and at least have big trash cans to do so. There a few household size trash cans WE had to find around the hall to set out.
Again the hall is beautiful but our experience with the hall and owner...
Read moreMy partner and I got married here. We planned a lot of our wedding from across the country. Tom made this process seamless leading up to the wedding. He even helped out on the day of to make sure the little things that no one wants to stress about went smoothly. We would not have wanted to have our wedding anywhere else. I would highly recommend this venue to anyone especially those looking for a warm, welcoming venue like the Olde Mill. Parkville is a cozy little town with a lot of character. And Tom is a wonder to work...
