Prima Facie Bistro — Restaurant in Parkville

I don't even know how to start this post to review Prima Facie Bistro and Market. I guess I should say "one of the best dining experiences I've had since the old Webster House downtown". The ambience of PRIMA FACIE BISTRO is first class. I would say upscale casual (with an emphasis on the upscale) yet warm and inviting enough that you can just go in jeans and not feel out of place. We were greeted at the door by some very welcoming and professional staff members, then promptly ushered to a table where we were waited on swiftly by our friendly server Cole (he was outstanding). The manager, Aaron, was pitching in helping wherever needed, assisting staff and visiting tables to ask if the dining experience was satisfactory. And the food! Oh.My.Gosh! The food was an otherworldly experience! Seriously, even better than most places I've been to on the Plaza! And at reasonable prices for the quality and quantity as well! Especially noteworthy was the fact that the door greeters and server knew it was my hubby's special day and wished him a happy birthday (and even gave us a complimentary dessert)! What a hidden treasure this restaurant Prima Facie in Parkville is! An experience to remember! From “first glance” the warm and inviting atmosphere set the tone for a fantastic meal. Sophisticated appeal! Our waitress, Kait, was a standout during our visit. She greeted us with a genuine smile and took the time to ask for our names, what brought us in and made genuine conversation, making us feel valued as guests. Her kindness and personable nature truly enhanced our dining experience.

Kait's knowledge of the menu was impressive, particularly when it came to the selection of Spanish red wines. She expertly guided us through the options, helping us choose the perfect pairing for our meal.

To start, we ordered the Caesar salad with bread crumbs, and it did not disappoint! The freshness of the buttery romaine, combined with the creamy dressing and crunchy bread crumbs, created a delightful dish that was bursting with flavor. We also tried the steak tartare, which was exquisitely prepared. The seasoning was spot on, and the quality of the meat was top-notch.

Overall, Prima Facie offers a fantastic dining experience with great food and outstanding service. Kait's warmth and knowledge were the icing on the cake. I’ve eaten at both the market and the bistro and had wonderful meals every time. The build out is gorgeous and it looks lovely. Even the bathrooms were beautiful. Market: I’m not the hugest fan of krinkle cut fries but theirs are perfection! The sandwiches have fun/unique elements and are not basic or boring. My favorite is the turkey sammy with apricot preserves, pepadews, & brie on ciabatta! Bistro: We arrived without a reservation the friday before christmas, knowing it was unlikely we’d get in. The hostesses were smiling and helpful! The wait was about a hour but they kindly helped us get really lucky and let us know two seats had just opened up at the bar! Hannah, the bar manager, was wonderful, and whipped up a fabulous mocktail for me, off menu. As a wine professional who doesn’t drink, this is always so appreciated. Chef James’ food was great! We started with the steak tartare and power bowl, both delicious. My (chef) husband really loved the added touches made to the ingredients, like the pickled raisins, and the plethora of flavor in every bite. We also snagged a plate of fries because I had loved them in the market and wanted to have them again. For the entree, we split the acorn squash gnocchi and it was fabulous.
