This place is… something. First of all, I visited late May of 2022, on a Saturday. Anyway, if you want to go shopping, I do not think that this will be your place. Macy’s closed in 2017, Palais Royal closed in 2020 alongside Sears, and Dillards closed in 2006. I should also add that the food court has been vacant for years. Heck, the Claire’s, the one really decent-looking store, closed a while before I arrived, not to mention that a third of the mall (the playground and the empty hallways towards Macy’s) have been closed since the pandemic. However, despite ALL of these flaws, I thoroughly enjoyed it. The styling, though slightly refurbished roughly 5 or so years ago, still looks similar to how it did when it opened in 1982. The Palais Royal still has it’s logo in place, but so does the Sears. So if you enjoy dated architectural design, I would highly recommend.
EDIT: I went back during Thanksgiving week, and the place is not doing too hot. The only name brand store, which I believe was a FootAction, has closed since I last went last May. Just a fare warning, the area is not the safest (certainly no Greenspoint or Sharpstown, but still enough that you should be more careful), and that the old Macy’s may have a homeless person or two. Don’t worry, as the mall itself should be fine, since the only people there are getting exercise. Only go after dark if you know what you are doing. In conclusion, if you want to go, do so sooner rather than later since I doubt the longevity of this mall.
EDIT 2: I added more photos from Thanksgiving Week 2022, this time from my camera, as I forgot to put the photos of it on here. The new photos do not reflect the current state of the mall, again as they are from a couple...
Read moreWhat I didn't like about the mall it's not the mall anymore it's not the Pasadena mall anymore every store got shut down or even bankrupt the concession stand was closed Claire's was there no more the star shot pictures was not there no more all the other random stores weren't even there anymore it was just bunked. I used to come to this mall it was like my favorite mall I said come here when I was little and now it's just downgraded not even finished it's hot the AC don't even work there was only seven cars that day I just completely hated it. The stores that I did see in there was some brand new store by the concession stand the waterfall got remodeled that was the best thing about the mall was the waterfall and then finish line is there but there was the Indians place where they sell the cell phones and body jewelry but no Claire's I was disappointed I was disappointed in the mall everything just got thrown around and just went out of business I don't even know why they still have it open if no one's even going to shop there maybe just go for the finish line...
Read moreI would give it 0 stars but only because I use to work there and the beauty salon Is still there and the owner is one of my good friends that's about the only reason to even go anymore the rest of the mall is just sad, plus the way i was treated even after working there they have been so discriminatory since the last 2 owners. I was having people tell me that didn't even work in the mall that they were accusing me of things just because I was coming to see my friend and walk her out. The part is it was coming from a supervisor who was talking to people outside of the mall that was calling another ex employee when the person they were calling and saying the stuff to was a bigger trouble maker and a person who isn't even stable in the head. I really started to call the owner because I didn't like the fact of someone trying to slander my name but it's all about color there and that's why the place has went down because it was once a place of family and friends that turned into just people who want to think they are better than others instead of...
