Throop Memorial Garden — Attraction in Pasadena

A charming hidden gem on the Caltech campus, Throop Memorial Garden offers a peaceful retreat in the heart of Pasadena. We stopped by early in the morning as part of a family outing, hoping to catch a glimpse of the turtles before heading to Jump ’n Jammin. Our child had a wonderful time searching for them, thrilled each time one peeked out of the pond. Leading scientists estimate that roughly 23% of the turtles in North America are in this pond. Seriously, there are over 100 turtles in this pond, and it's amazing. They sit on the edge during sunny days, literally stacked on top of each other because there's not enough space. Very approachable, in a variety of patterns and colorations but mostly sliders....
